Default 5.984 Project Tab/SubProject Crashing

Hi, is anyone else having issues with instantaneous crashes when attempting to either open a new project tab or insert a subproject in Reaper 5.984? I use both features extensively and with this latest update I am experiencing instant crashes when attempting to do either. I tried this both from project templates as well as starting from a totally blank session with the same result on a mac running OS 10.12.5 Sierra.

I also experienced crashes opening an additional project in a tab since I updated to 5.984 (x64/Win10).

Interestingly, after restarting Reaper with the same primary project and opening the same secondary project in a new tab, everything works and seems to be stable.

Tried to but couldn´t reproduce this with different projects, so most likely project specific.

As already mentioned above, if Reaper crashes at startup, re-loading immediately afterwards is always a success and works stably, while nothing seems to be changed in the project, meaning no FX disabled or so. So I Wonder why it´s crashing in the first place and what´s keeping it from crashing again upon re-load.
