Default Help making a guitar track icon

I love the guitar track icons that come with Reaper:

I've been trying to make a similar one for my Jaguar HH, using this image:

But the best I can do with my limited skills is this:

It's almost there, but the edges of the image look really crappy, and I just can't work out how to get them looking nice and smooth. Anyone have any tips on creating nice track icons? Or - if it's not too much trouble - are there any kind graphics designers out there who wouldn't mind quickly sorting it out for me?

Anyone who could help me out with this would have my eternal gratitude. Thanks in advance!!

Aha! Thank you so much. I was looking for something with a bit less detail though, so I've had another go:

I was being stoopid before and cropping after re-sizing. This time I cropped and then re-sized - I think it looks much better :-)

Default Thread Experiences Mission Drift at This Point

So, how you like the axe? I've been thinking about getting a 3TS one to match my Jaguar bass, but have about fifteen other HHs and am trying to find a way of justifying it.

It is a lovely guitar. Was looking for something to replace my fret-worn squier Tele, and decided to splash out a bit. It's smaller and lighter than my Tele, and has a shorter scale, which is all great for me since I'm tiny. Oh, and it sounds pretty good too :-)

Just upload to Reaper resources https://stash.reaper.fm/ or any other file hoster and link to it with image tags [img]your pic's adress[/img]

This is my take on it: one that tries to match Mr White Tie's blueish color mix

and one that almost, but not quite, entirely fails to mimic the original colors

Hope you like 'em, I'm not really an expert with that stuff

Here's the bass:

I'm a bit tired cutting out Ibanez guitars..., I tried the "other" Ibanez anyway, but in the end failed miserably. Had an ugly edge when Reaper sized it down and I ran out of undo history, so I couldn't go back. Damn me should save more often. Sorry, maybe I have another go at the weekend, but hope someone else does it in the meantime . She's a really nice axe.

The RG2550 needs a better pic to go from, that's a weird angle. Try to get it as frontal as possible. Also, the white sheet on the other guitar pic helps a lot when cutting it. It would be nice if you could do that. Ah yes and try to avoid reflections on the body if that's possible.

It's an honor contributing my humble part to your comfort when you record your next fine piece of music.

Cheers

Wonderful, Dimi. That pic almost did itself while I was having a nice cuppa coffee .

Here she is:

EDIT: oops, somehow the pic got blurred. I replaced the file with a slightly sharper version.

P.S.: That's no hard work at all (if the pic is that good, that is), I take it as lessons to get better with Photoshopping.

I had another go with your other axe. I don't know why that is, but somehow Reaper's icon resizing doesn't seem to like it. No matter how I try, I always get that weird edge when sized for the mixer view.

I uploaded what I got so far anyway. Have a nice weekend.
