Reaper Rack - more live use capabilities!
Justin and fellow Reaper lovers,
I was just thinking about how little it would now take to to use Reaper as a instrument rack for live performance!
The key feature needed would be the ability to load up a bunch of different tracks (i.e. instruments) in advance, and be able to activate groupings of tracks when a MIDI message (or other user defined keystroke) is sent from a controller or PC keyboard.
If implemented on a track level, "activate" would mean soloing the "record ready" status of the desired tracks, and perhaps also toggling the "FX on" status to match the record arm status.
on a less ambitious front...
A global option to "solo arm active track" would serve the same purpose if the CPU could handle all the FX being on at once, and only one track is needed for the "instrument".
This would mean that the active track would be armed, and all other tracks would be de-activated. Ctl-clicking on other tracks could allow an "override" to record arm multiple tracks when needed
Another advantage of implementing this global option is that artists working alone can quickly jump from one track to another while recording without having to deactivate the last track recorded. That in itself would be really slick and would improve Reapers workflow by leaps and bounds for solo artists.
What do you guys think?
