Hi Peter, sounds great! Has your trademark hooky melodies and rhythms and smooth, smokey vocals. Excellent tune!

My only criticism would be the piano tinkling in the background. Not all the piano, just the part that's tinkling in the background. Your guitar and everything else is done to such perfection that to me, it's a little distracting.
But no matter, I still like it very much. I liked your other one you posted a while back too, you are a true artist and a perfectionist and I like your style very much.

Thank you! For the recording, I attempted to make the vocal sound a bit bigger than last album release in January with more reverb. I think the mix overall is also brighter.

Thanks so much Tod. You are a talented musician and skilled engineer.
A few words about the piano part:
The neutral appraisal of what the piano is doing is commonly referred to as a "countermelody" and in classical music referred to as counterpoint. It's a secondary melody played simultaneously with (but not with the same rhythmic pattern as) the primary melody, in this case the vocal. Because it can stand out on its own as a separate melody, if you are unfamiliar with the music you will more likely think there is simply some competing melody going on and then give the countermelody a negative appraisal like "distraction." There's only so much processing the brain can do with a piece of music if you listen to it once or twice. When you become familiar with it, it sounds like a countermelody.
Then there's the arrangement of instruments, which are symbolic. The piano represents the "fleur de lune," who most will see as the symbol of a woman (but doesn't need to be), and it's intended to set up countermelody with the vocal as well as having a "dance" with the trumpet when the song modulates. The trumpet also represents a person in pursuit of "fleur de lune" as a love interest. The piano part was originally going to be an arpeggiator to create a modern contemporary sound in the song, but when I tried to do that it was way too busy (a true distraction). So I cut down the notes to the countermelody you hear. It's right there at the start in the first verse because many people these days only listen to 30 seconds of a song, and I like how the piano part embellishes the vocal.
If you leave the piano part out it sounds too empty to me, at least that's how I hear it as composer/arranger of the song who has obviously heard this many times.
In the mix, vocal is way up in level over the piano part. The piano notes are EQ'd to have clarity but are also panned to the left to appear to be more in the background. The delay on the piano panned opposite to the right helps put it more in the background and create a more mysterious sound, congruent with a person (i.e., a woman) who would "only show her face at night."

Had a problem at BandCamp when first published getting the release to show up under a search using the genre tags (in fact it's still not showing up for "new arrivals"). I had to re-publish and it's there now.

Yeah, that's fantastic. Really nice performances and sound, right from the opening notes. Very smooth. I love it.

I don't find anything about this song (seems different to Carlos Santana's Moonflower )
Is this you composition and lyrics ?
Could be nice to play it with my band

Yes, great tune again, Peter! I agree with Tod that some elements are too much or - intentionally - off-key which sometimes distracts me as a listener as I just want to be carried along
Drop me a DM next time before you release a tune, I'd be happy to provide a tasteful mastering!

Nice tune, good performance!
I agree about the tinkling piano. I'd get rid of it at least at the beginning, under the voice in the first verse. Empty? I'd say rich with air ;-)
What did you use for the trumpet?

If you want to hear an edited version of this with less "tinkling" piano, it's available now on BandCamp and Youtube. You can still hear the original if you have Spotify (link above), which I can't switch without requesting removal and then resubmitting, and I don't know if it's worth it.
Let me know if that change will now allow me to get a Grammy nomination.

For me this works much better: the cut-down piano part feels more like a decoration and less like an interference now. More space for the voice to resonate and be in focus.
Not sure if the Spotify hoop is worth jumping through or if it is too much of a hassle. I'd probably do it, because the song feels significantly different to me.

I quite liked it. I didn't find the piano distracting. If anything I thought the vocals in the verse were kind of a TINY bit buried cuz of the tone is similar to the guitar ish... But they really shine when you start to sing out more. Either way it wasn't meant to be a critique. The song sounds, flows, is played all very professionally and exceptional.
If I may interject a bit of humor, which hopefully will not be taken the wrong way, but more of an indicator of my mind and humor, but I kept hearing fruit of the loom and it was cracking me up.
That is not likely going to win any points with you but I figured I'd share it anyways. It's a great sounding song and you know what you're doing.
