Mio try this out on multitrack, works a treat !
No timestretch but makes editing a whole heap easier and fun !
Provided you have a click based session.
If not tempomap the track first.

Now we just need a quasi-non-destructive method of stretching sections of a clip, without having to split it! Also, a way to do this to groups of tracks, to beat correct a bunch of different drum mics (for example) without them getting out of sync of each other.
Beat markers within a clip is the way to go, using the same algorithm as dynamic split, then you can just drag the clip markers around to stretch each segment to the right beat (vs. ableton live, where you drag the beat to match the clip, if I recall), or quantize to a grid (with all the strength percentage and humanize options so you can control how much correction you're actually doing)
ProTools handles this really well, with options to either render the stretching in realtime during playback or to prerender the stretching (which is a vital feature, basically a track freeze for the elastic audio to free up cpu).
Seems like a pretty simple next step to get all that working. Here's hoping!

This is one of the main features in Sonar that's keeping me from jumping 100% into Reaper.
This is a big +1 from me for this feature too!

Double bump..
Not had time to read the whole pages of posts but this is what keeps me in Ableton, the fact that you can rejig a warped loop with warp markers as well as drawing volume envelopes, filter, pitch etc directly on a looped clip

I'm all up for making the integration better but for now it's not that bad, here's a random spurt of info..
.
For the above user you can draw volume and pan on the item very well (just not item fx yet or pitch) we have dynamic split, the split points can be edited simply by grabbing them, alt to stretch them. Grouping the items now (near enough) makes them behave as one even over multiple tracks as long as you right click the group toolbar button and select that selecting one grouped item rejects both. multiple beats on multiple tracks do something very cool, if they are grouped as one and you adjust a hit in say the top beat as soon as it passes any hits in the other tracks they get "collected" and adjusted as well making your beats (or say multiple backing tracks) lock into each other.
You can even heal splits if they have not been time stretched yet and selecting two section of your beat whilst leaving unselected ones in between allows you to stretch either side without stretching the middle ones.
Fingers groove extension makes it even more powerful and even gives you the option of a relative item stretch based on the whole beat rather than items. It's a great extension
The sws extension gives you the power to shuffle hits around and if you only pick two hits within your beat they swap around and you can use a clever macro to move hits around in your beat (random shuffle 2 works best).
Yes it's not perfect and could be much better but it is functional now. I'm hoping for improvements though!

Search for threads started by "fingers" you should find the link to his extension make sure it's number 06 that should be latest one. Once installed (just one file like the all powerful "sws" one) just search "fng" in actions to see his commands. Very clever and powerful stuff. Enjoy!

You can vote on it at the issue tracker, here:
http://forum.cockos.com/project.php?issueid=439 !
EDIT: just kidding, looks like it's been locked or something. I haven't been around in a while. But it is in a shortened "elevated feature request" list, for what that's worth.

Necroing this thread to add my support for this feature. Literally the only feature that I really feel relegates Reaper to the "little leagues."

To me, it is among the only one(s) feature(s) request(s) for v4.
Reaper is in the big league, and dynamic split is usefull, but warp markers are an old and serious request muuuuch needed here.

Completely agreed. I've been mixing a lot of mediocrely-recorded rock songs lately and even correcting just one beat is kind of a pain, much less an entire track. This is still the ONE feature request that I can't live without.

This is too cumbersome in Reaper... Headaches. It would be nice to have an easy way to Quantize Audio. Protools and Sonar make good use of Elastic time. That "Audio Snap" in Sonar..Brilliant. I go around Splitting, cutting, and pasting for hours and these guys just pull a Warp Marker.

Audio Snap/Warp Time
+1 for audio snap/warp time type feature!
As long as the grid is able to bend to the sample, I'm sure REAPER folks can think of a better implementation than Avid or Steinberg.

yes def +++++++++1
although I can correct bad drummers with reaper its far far far behind the simplicity of logic and pro tools.
its not even the case that reaper is missing features its just they are not implemented in a simple, fast and effective way.
if justin needs an mbox with a copy of pro tools see how they implemented it I would gladly lend him one

Well, that is not time-stretching, but the latest beta of Renoise seems to have a nice slicer tool...
