Default License ltime limit?

Hi there.
I bought my license in ver 2 (I think)
Today I went to update my registration info (using the latest beta)and the key was created and downloaded fine, but it says that it is valid until August 2009.
Have I missed something about the lasting of the licenses?
Anyway. Thanks for such cool app.

That means you purchased in ver 1 and have trial time till August 2009. So did I and I thought mine was ver 2 too. *Sigh*, time and versions fly so fast...

Hmm!
That clears everything up.
But I still think I bought it with version 2.
When was V2 released? in 2008?
That's when I bought mine.
I'll figure it out anyway.
Later.

Not sure where to post... is it possible to register Reaper to a different name (or nickname) than the one used in the billing form? I am talking about the name that appears in the window title.

Anyway. It could be possible that I bought it right before the version update.
Anyway.
I'll see how it all turns out by august and get me an unexpected "present"

Yes it is. As I remember there is recipient and licensee form.

The v3 server isn't working for me, just keeps telling me "PROBLEM: Invalid name/key pair".

My license says it's valid to v3.99 so I believe i'm entitled, anyone have a contact address besides licensing@cockos.com (didn't get a response from that one...)

Yes, I am being a bit stupid about this myself. I upgraded to v.3.0 and bought a new license. I imported my temp key and now can't figure out how to use my new license to fully register Reaper v.3.0. I tried putting in the About>Purchase space but not only did it not "take," it un-registered my temporary copy. How do I import a key that has my "full" license in it?

Gotta get back to work<g>.

You can't buy 3.0 licenses yet... the upgrade server gives out temporary licenses for 1.x license holders and permanent (until 3.99) licenses for 2.x license holders.

I use different os versions: XP, Vista 64 and OSX on a Macbook. Can I use the licence key for all the different Reaper versions (win32, x64, osx) as long as I use Reaper only on one computer at a time?

Hi
What is the upgrade price for people with a v1.xx licence ?
Do we have to buy a "full" new one, or is there an upgrade option ?
(Just asking)

Mine says valid to 4.99 in the email. I have been licensed from the start and just assumed it was $60 for everyone. That's okay, easy worth it.

Judging by the lack of 'upgrade' mentions on the site, I guess it's full price.

I.

So.

Broke.

But you do get a licence for 2 major versions; from http://reaper.fm/purchase.php

Quote:
Your one-user, full-use license includes two major version numbers worth of REAPER's famous frequent upgrades.

A REAPER 1.0 license would have included over 250 upgrades!

Purchasing a license now includes upgrades through REAPER 4.99.

With things as they are, I'd rather pay $30 for a single version. Hopefully things will be a little less horrific in general by the next version!

yeah, its a rebuy system.

my v1.x comm. lic. will expire on aug. 01 2009 - i think i'll wait a bit..

since i dont want to loose the "commercial" 'status' - i gotta buy the comm. lic. again.

even if i dont make over 20k USD per year.

having a "Non-Commercial Lic." text in Reaper's header would be a downgrade for me..

I got a mail about upgrade from 1.x:

"We do not offer upgrades from 1.x non-commercial licenses to 3.x
licenses -- you must purchase a new license from the web site. Thank you
for your understanding."

That's wierd, I wonder why I didn't get a mail...

For the record, I'm not moaning about the price, but rather the global economic circumstances!

No, there was never an upgrade, except for upgrading from non-commercial to commercial within the same version.

The licenses have pretty much always been good for 2 version numbers. If you bought a 1.x license, it was good for all 1.x and 2.x releases. If you bought a 2.x license it was/is good for all 2.x and 3.x releases. If you buy a 3.x license, it will be good for all 3.x and 4.x releases.

etc.

The only issue anybody may have run into with the website is that the key converter URL was only issuing temporary keys at first for those with 1.x/2.x licenses until 3.0 went live. I'm sure they'll have it fixed soon (if not right now) so that you can permanently convert your 2.x-purchased licenses to 3.x. 1.x users need to just buy a new license.

I'm sure that JCS will be along sometime soon to chime in, and of course any errors above are my own, not Cockos'.

I wish there was an upgrade system. I'm not buying a whole new license?!

I'm willing to support Cockos, but I expect the same back from them.

Ok, I got my key from the upgrade server as advertised. Turns out I bought it in 2007, so it was version 1 and I only have 3 until august. Oh, well, guess the price is still reasonable. I can save up until august.

Posted this in another thread (as in wrong one):

Bought my non-commercial license when it was in 2.x, and it is now a 3.x non-commerc. license, when I updated my registration recently (at beta-stage). So to get a discounted, instead of non.comm., 3.x license I have to buy a new license, right?

The license you bought for version 2, is also good for version 3.

I understand - but why is it a 3.x "for non commercial use" I have then, instead of a discounted license, if commercial and discounted licenses are the only options for ver 3? I don´t have problem with this, I´m just wondering if I upgraded the program correctly?

Is Reaper unique in that you can use it completely uncrippled (with web forum support and full pdf manual) for nothing, for a nominal non-commercial fee, or if you are lucky enough, for a full commercial fee?

Default UPGRADE for 1.x users

I own a 2.x license.
Fine, I can upgrade.

But I think it is SAD that the first users who supported Reaper have to pay a WHOLE license!
Reaper exists thanks to these peple who believed in it.

So please, offer them an easy way to upgrade.

Although it's not much money, it would have been nice even if they'd knocked $5 or something off.

Maybe it's too much of a pain to sort out the licences - easier to just issue new ones I guess...

Ok, some of you want something/$5 in return for your support. I understand the motivation but still...I'm not getting it.

- When you registered at v1.0, you were supported by 2 full versions worth of upgrades over the course of ~2 years, not only bugfixes but sometimes even major function upgrades at no extra cost - several times a week. I mean didn't you buy Reaper back then because you thought the version you got at that time was a steal?

- If you bought a non-commercial license for $40-50, I have some extra problems to understand your demands. That sounds to me like buying a 2007 Ford at an extreme dumping price and getting the 2008 model for free from the dealer on top, and then asking for a rebate on the equally underpriced 2009 Ford which includes a free upgrade to the 2010 model. Am I wrong, thinking one shouldn't be miffed or disappointed if the dealer says "no"?

If you bought a commercial license, I understand your woes better but the new licensing policy ("up to $20,000 gross revenue") maybe allows you do your business with a non-commercial license now. In this case your rebate is not $5, it's actually $165.

What am I missing here?

Thanks for any hint.

Not quite sure if I understood your question right, but non-commercial license = discounted license. If you had a 2.x commercial license and you have a non-commercial license now, something went wrong with the license key exchange and you should contact licensing@cockos.com with your license number, and the name and email you used when you bought it.
