There is an SWS auto-colourer based upon track names and rules.
As soon as you name the track, it gets coloured. I think it's shown in onenor his tutorials, but I can't remember which one.

Thanks, but that username isn't showing? I just wanted recorded or drag/drop onto track lanes to be different colours just like Kenny's tutorial and Theme.
The one thing about R4.5 is that mine is very dull (orig theme) and I end up using Acid Pro, or Ableton as its a bit easier and brighter to look at! I have tried themes in Reaper but they seem to get messed up and the "acid theme" isn't the same as the Acid Program.. so not to mess up my theme and config I have stuck with the default, but coloured items/tracks would be helpful

You have to either color them manually - Right Click - Custom Track Colors
Or use Auto Color as part of the SWS extensions.

Not to hijack the thread, but I'd grab a Jamstix tut as well. I've owned the product for a while and it's collecting virtual dust on my machine because it's easier to program by hand, imho.

Great job as always.
Keep going. I've learnt a lot from your Tips & tricks and SWS series. The Reaper manual is great, no doubts, but as usual, an image (or video) teaches more than a thousand words.

At a guess Kenny's Prefs are set to load the last project on REAPER start-up (note it's the same project, "song.rpp" coming up each time).
Click on the tab and then load your project...

Yeah. That was a bit of "video editing" trickery.
I didn't like the way it looked with an empty tab so I created a new tab, then loaded a project without it being seen in the video.
It seemed awkward to create a new tab and load a project each time but that is what I did.
Thanks

Damn!!!
Sorry I didn't catch that.
I actually had mine set to "Mouse Position" but I think it was close enough to get it on the frame.
I might fix this when I'm done with a few others.
Thanks.

Thank you Kenny, great videos.
I wish you could do this with every update, I know I'm asking too much =S, but maybe Justin could propuse you some kind of alliance as a Cockos Team part as Geoffrey or White Tie, I don't know. The only thing I know is that your work is awesome and the Reaper community benefits so much from it, free or as a Groove 3 commercial products. Reaper is updated with these amazing features so fast that is very difficult to explore all of them and know that they are there and how to use them to improve your workflow. You really know how to explore a software and teach it cleary, besides you're a great recording and mixer engineer.

Yeah. I know. It's not that special but it covers one of the new features. Although it's a small one.
My plan is to make a bunch of these short videos that explains each new feature, one by one, at least briefly.
So please tell me what specifically you'll like me to cover and I'll try to do the most requested stuff first.
Obviously, this is a Midi heavy update so we'll be focusing there mostly.
This won't replace "Reaper 4 Explained" as that one has very little midi and I'm not going to re-cover anything from that tutorial.
For now, these videos will be free for the community. It may become a real product or it may just be for us. We'll see.
Thanks for your support.

I am a subscriber of Groove3 and your tutorials are the reason why I took them. I was watching your tracking drums tutorial and then was wondering if you have a way of going about tracking pre fader in Reaper. I saw your video on Pro Tools 11 where you talk about metering. What is the workaround in Reaper for the time being if there is currently none. Thank you very much once again. You are awesome,Kenny.

Tracking in Reaper is pre-fader. The meter tells you exactly what's being recorded to disk while you're recording. On playback it switches to post-fader.
The workaround for making the meter appear hotter is to go to preferences - vu meters and change the maximum to something lower than 0dB. Like -8 or -12.
Thanks for the support.

Kenny, concerning snap to frames
I was wondering does Reaper give you the option to choose what your framerate is? I'm guessif you import a video Reaper with have the correct framerate but what if you can't import the video (or don't have it) but you know the tempo and framerate of the video and have been given cue points to create short musical scores or sound effects at certain times/framerates, can you set the framerate? I hope this makes sense.

Hi jonesnpnice, I don't do a heap of work with video myself, but is the option to set project framerate under project settings any use to you here?

Yes that's it, thanks Geoff I appreciate it.
One more question, is there a way to separate the audio from a video that you've imported? If I want to remove parts of the audio so that I can replace it or if I want to reverse parts of the audio (e.g. reversing obscene or lewd words in a music video), how is this done?
