Personal Theme Request
Here is my current theme:
I really would like more colours for the tracks, i'd would like to have 4, transparent pale green, transparent pale blue, transparent pale yellow and transparent pale red/pink.
I'd like the Record buttons to stay where they are, but look more like the top icons.
I'd like the timer to look more similar to the one in Protools 8.
I can send a link for this theme to anyone who wants it.
Hopefully someone is up to making these mods.
The green comes from a program known as windows blinds, i change the colour regularily, you can do it in about 30 seconds and don't have to exit any programs.
Thanks

Here are the colours i would like to see:
The blue on the top track is pale, tinting towards cyan, similar to the colour of the icons in my picture above.
I would also like to see a similar green, pink and yellow in Reaper.

Here is another one:
Obviously i don't want the Icons to be the same as protools, or even the greys to be the same, the digital looking timers etc... look nice.
They could be set into dark or light grey reaper skins.
The colours obviously have to be played with to see what works..

Here's another idea:
Having the track names appear as digital read outs.
Here's a different Windowblinds skin i use sometimes:
Would look pretty good with the above concept.

Hopefully that's all in the past now, as i see brice is working on a new one.
The theme is ofcourse Brice's Orginal Cyb Zinc.
He seems to be working towards making some of the things i would like to see more possible.
I expect i will have to put some work in myself.
I would also pay for a version of Brices new theme with my ideas worked in and buy reaper, maybe someone could do this for payment?
I'm still new to this, so i am taking my time trying different DAW's, before i buy one.
Thanks

I'm not working on a new one, this is just the evolution of my mockup.
No it is still not in the past, and I still don't want this theme distributed publicly, let alone someone getting paid to make mods to it.

Salut Brice.
Can I ask you why you dont want this theme to be distibuted publicly?
I have to say it's the best theme I've seen for reaper so far, I tried all the usual suspects and come back to the default one everytime, but your theme is really above average, jus a lil dark for my taste. I'll probably mod it for my personal usage.

Brice is the author of zinc. He is not the author of CybZinc. Cybolic is the author of CybZinc. Cybolic saw pictures (IIRC) of zinc and pieced a theme together on his own. Last I recall Brice said:
"...do whatever you please.I've released the psd files, this could turn into an open community theme, where everyone can contribute (given they have photoshop).
or it can turn into dust." ...
which was posted in this thread. Why he is flip flopping on whether or not it can be distributed is beyond me, seeing as how he released the PSD files. (keyword: RELEASED)But if you do some digging in the forums... you can find a working link for CybZinc (poet). I sure as shit aint giving it out anymore.

I'm not really changing my mind, if you want to make a theme for personal use, please do use the now "rather old" psd's which are still on my website. You can do whatever you like, with those.
If you want to release it to the public, it'd only be with my consent and should truly allow customization, ie like the open-source community, you should release the sources (layered psd file for each png image).
If it goes in a direction I don't like it could fork into various sub projects.
I'll try to have something available for everyone to use in the 3.x time frame, both light & dark version (flat and other shades might come later).

CybZinc is still available (through PM), though I can't post the link on the original thread since it's closed.
And yes, it's based on Brice's Zinc mockups and includes "source" files, though in The Gimp's format instead of Photoshop's.

Cybolic, I don't see any source file in there, and as far as I remember I never gave you the ok for public distribution.

I thought we'd been down this road already, and understood Brice has a right to release his theme, or not, in the manner he sees fit.
I also remember some of the somewhat truculent comments, because he chose to define his release criteria, and the implication made that in some way he was being 'selfish' because he chose not to release as a 'free for all.'
So it's his choice, i respect that, and it's somewhat sad that others can't, and continue to try and 'push' him into releasing his hard work, which has been going over 12 months now i think, just because those particular 'individuals' have decided,in their own minds, that this SHOULD be available for all, whatever Brice's view on this.
Releasing or publicly sharing a theme, or music for that matter, is entirely the author's right, without belligerent demands, or petulant judgement, if he or she defines the method or condition of release, or not.
Alex.
p.s. I wonder what would have happened, if those who wanted to plagarise or borrow Brice's work, had actually given him the courtesy of asking him first.........

The xcf.bz2 files are the source files. No, you never used the words public distribution, but I figured they were included in "do whatever you please".
And yes, I'll pull the link again, and no I'm not doing this out of disrespect (not that you said that Brice).

Jeez Brice... gimme a break.
You stir up all kinds of conversations about you and your theming to do nothing with the theme and then when someone wants to follow through, you whine.
I thought you were interested in theming but the more I see, the more I think you just want attention.
c'mon dude...

Brice,
I would love to see a *new* theme for ver 3, hopefully some of your suggestions have been implemented.
@heartfelt,
This would be the same as me taking one of your songs, changing a little something and distributing it under my name... I don't think you would be very agreeable.
Peace.

that's the whole point isn't it, with so many great themes around, why do people need to use mine before it's released.

Same reason we love running the alpha versions of Reaper, even though they aren't stable?
Anyway, to sum things up on my part, I didn't steal credit from Brice (my version even had a different name to make sure Brice could release his without confusion), I didn't copy-paste his work either but re-created it from scratch, and I have pulled the theme, so can we please stop the slandering?
Brice has said that he will release his theme, so let's just wait for it. I for one am a bit tired of discussing this.
