Default general midi question

Hi Folks,

I had a question regarding the general midi format. This doesn’t seem to be well supported by Reaper. I have a lot of general midi modules and keyboards and do a lot of rough drafts with the PCI soundcard's general midi sounds.

Saving sessions doesn’t remember the presets. Volume controls don’t work, etc.

At the same time there isn’t a lot more boring than general midi. For the good of a universal format, it is very limiting and I can’t be alone loathing the gunshots and helicopters in the 120’s.

Reaper isn’t addressing this and I’m using other softwares to supplement the general midi side. Have I just got too old and set in early midi ways. Meaning, is Reaper looking ahead and abandoning general midi for the greater versatility of virtual synths? Or is general midi support just around the corner.

Thanks,
John K
