Whatever it is, I'd like to see a Cockos OS (cock OS?) with a tiny footprint like Reaper so it can fit on a jump drive. Then I'd just remove my flimdows XP hard drive and run COCK OS and Reaper on my machine as an (almost) hardware only DAW. Now thats worth waiting for!

OS: the world doesn't need YAL (Yet Another Linux).

Or something that won't work with FAT or NTFS.

Or doesn't work with normal plugins, or freaks XP out residing on the same drive, or or or...

On the other hand, if you're talking double the performance, no obfuscated install.. maybe a shielded hard drive situation (copy over from wherever before a session)... still, I don't see it - some varient of linux would work.

I've yet to see a fool-proof linux install.. Ubuntu got close, but it's got to pass the "safely recommend to my computer illiterate 70 year old relative" test. Until that happens I don't want to have to bother with Linux...unless...

You are making assumptions EnzymeX. I would call myself a sufferer rather than a sympathizer.

The moment Reaper is out on Mac, oooo baby!!

Will it be (cue HAL9000) "something wonderful..."?

I was thinking, if Justin made a separate video editing app that was the Reaper equivalent of Avid, that would massively stir up trouble... <g>

Having said that, I've yet to encounter a video editor that had any kind of thought put into it from a workflow standpoint. Video editors seem to be stuck in the Cakewalk 1.0 era.

BUT, WHAT I'D LIKE IMMEDIATELY

would be a simple audio editor to right-click to....

Version 5 here; I tried others, felt like going from an expertly tuned Ferrari to an horse and carriage...with a sick horse in front.

Yes, press the "ON" button, 4 or 5 second later ready to record. And no distraction from the net or anything else (I have a very low self-discipline level and get easily distracted...).

Ohh yeah! a replacement to Sound Forge would be helpful/awesome. It would have to be called "scythe" though...

A bootable version is far away in the future - it would be impossible to make all the different audio drivers work correctly - Justin is good, but I don't think he's gonna write 500 driver sets -

Hmmmm, let reacapitulate all this things.

Justin makes bootable reaper DAW OS
with Reaperson (something like reason, but better) including
Sound Reaforge wav editor( like SF but more powerfull),
pREAmier video aditor( like adobe premier but smaler and easier)
little drum man inside computer for drums and all help about drum
Whole orchestra for accompaniment and orchestrations with all instruments you can imagine
and at last a beauty (real) girl who delivers you OS in your house adress and stay with you, who sing like no one before. In every language, of course.

and connector to connect computer with heads. Then you just imagine a song, and final product will been burned on your CD without even touching a muouse or keyboard.

Hmmmm. Would it be licenced same as Reaper. It would be nice.

Thank you Justin.

Or, I am just a little immature.

Sory if I hurt someones feeling. I just wish software like this.

he's already written them he did it in a spare half hour last weekend. he got the soundblaster live down to 0.0001ms latency running 300 magnetos on a 286 with 8mb ram.

but its a moot point anyway as he Justin has bought RME and is releasing a Reaper-only version of the fireface 800 for $40

I think it's going to be an electro-psychic silent click metronome with optional cowbell hallucination. What it does is reach out psychically and cause you to play in time with the selected tempo.

That should take care of all of these persistent metronome requests.

Throw reafir in the detector and pick a tape curve for the response, or get REAL freaky and use reafir in the detector in compress mode with a tape curve!

Go nuts

Though there could maybe be something very much on the lines of which you speak coming...maybe already nearly done

You could probably run it right now as your windows shell - I've seen people using Ableton Live as a shell too, in principle you can do this with many apps (seen it done with Mozilla too).

Justin, pls say it is so for a Linux native version. One of the few things holding me to Windows is Audio and I can't stand the current Linux offerings Audio wise.

That being said, I am sick of the garbage of dealing with Windows to keep things happy on my system. Linux is so easy once setup and Ubuntu's Edgy Eft is looking so nice.

Anyway, I'm blown away by your commitment to this program and us audio loonies (-:
