Hi head, I'm having the same problem.

When you say "try installing again HeDaScripts Manager beta1 from scratch", do you mean deleting it and then reloading it?

Yes please. You don't need to delete the action in REAPER. Just redownload the zip files and copy them to replace the files. I have replaced beta1 downloads with beta5 version.

Default * v1.0beta7 (2016-07-12)

Thanks to the new VIP members of these days here is a new update for Track Inspector:

Quote:
* v1.0beta7 (2016-07-12)
+ A/B between two plugins in the chain
+ Button to change meters panel height modes (variable, variable with minimum of half the total height, fixed at half, or fixed x pixels)
# Sidechain sends and receives bars display differently (assumes sidechain at 3+4 channels). Behavior can be disabled in global options.
A/B between two plugins in the chain. This doesn't bypass the plugins, only switches the wet controls, so it hasn't got the PDC issues that bypassing the plugins has.

Button to change meters panel height modes
4 options to display the meters area now. Elastic as it was before, with a minimum of half the height of the script height, or fixed at half the height. And then a variable height fixed that you can set dragging it.

Sidechain sends and receives bars display differently

Wow, thanks! Looking awesome.

Can't test though,
as your installer doesn't work for me.

Default v1.0beta8 (2016-07-16)

at some point I guess I should call it final version 1.0 and then start agian at 1.1 version I guess

Quote:
* v1.0beta8 (2016-07-16)
+ Option: Use PREMASTER track
+ Latch Preview compatible (REAPER 5.22)
# fix: Dock/Undock button (broken in beta7)
# fix: tooltips were displayed even if a window(MIDI editor for example) is over the script window.
- Two small fixes... small details that count.

- Use PREMASTER:
This is an advanced feature that most users won't probably need. Only if you need to have a master output with more than 2 channels, but the material you are working on is stereo. For example to output several stems in the same master output. good for proxy mastering workflow. Not needed if you only output stereo master. Maybe in the future I have to make it compatible with surround master.
If you activate this option(little PM button on the bottom), it will use a track named "PREMASTER". You have to route the signal to it as you need.
This is also good if you don't use the master track to insert plugins, to be able to use all your processor cores.

- Latch Preview:
Adding the Latch preview button in the automation panel. REAPER 5.22 required for this, obviously.

@Sumalc Which SWS version are you using? In any case, update to the latest version 2.8.3, or the beta version 2.8.7
That should fix the problem. Thanks for reporting it. It should detect that.

mmmmmm this is very strange.
x32 or x64? OSX or Windows?

SNM_MoveOrRemoveTrackFX is a function included in SWS. Can you tell me, if you go to REAPER Help menu, and then ReaScript documentation, can you find reaper.SNM_MoveOrRemoveTrackFX in the list of functions in the html page?

I'm sorry @Sumalc, I've been reviewing everything and I can't find what could be wrong. It shouldn't happen. I use the same function when you ALT+click on a FX to remove it. Does that work?
I'll try to test it on a mac later. I'm also making some other small fixes.

Don't worry Heda i can live with it.

i can repro like this if it can help :
create new project
insert one track
do nothing except launch script track inspector
exit (saving or not the project)
error message :
'reaper.SNM_MoveOrRemoveTrackFX' is unknown

no problem if i close script track inspector before exit, on a new or existing project.

Oh.. I am testing it on OSX, and I can reproduce it. It doesn't happen on Windows. I think I know what it is happening.. REAPER may be unloading the SWS library while exiting, and then my scripts tries to run the exit function where it removes the track inspector tracks. This happens if you exit the script. I'll see if I can make it not happen when exiting REAPER. Thanks!

ok
good news is that I have fixed it. I'll be included in beta9.

but it will require REAPER 5.23 for the APIExists() function
so if the SNM_MoveOrRemoveTrackFX is unknown then it won't try to call it. And since we are exiting REAPER, it's ok.

Thank you very much Sumalc

+ Rendering detection. Displays a simple message while rendering.

# fix: remove message alerting that PREMASTER track not found.
# fix: function unknown, error at exiting REAPER on OSX. (REAPER 5.23) [&postcount=374]
  • the button is a small button ">" at the name of the track. it is good when you navigate tracks using the right click button on a send or receive... you can quickly scroll to that track in the arrange using that button.
  • Rendering message appears when rendering. This saves a bit of CPU while rendering.

@Sumalc, this should fix the error. But only with REAPER 5.23 or later.

Thank you Heda, everything is fine now. Script Manager is really cool.
Good idea about render ;-) and also right click volume fader.
May i say red db color would be more logical IMO when db are over zero, and blue under zero?

Changed the colors, red is now above 0.0 and blue for below 0.0 But it can be customized to any color now in global options file.

Remember if you change something in Global options ini file, make a backup, because it will be replaced each time you update with default values. I know I must improve this but it is as it is now until I think of the best way to do it.

Thanks again for the volume ul/dl and RMB change!

ul/dl: Personally I'd prefer
up:
- LMB: snap to up snap
- RMB: set up snap-to
and same for "down"
or just snap1 and snap2

But, maybe your way gets useful, I don't know

hello tgraph Thanks!
When it is installed, from HeDaScripts Manager, it automatically loads the script into your actions list in REAPER. Running the script is just running its action. You can filter the actions list with "HeDa", and you will easily find it there.

Another way to use Track Inspector is by adding it to the Global startup actions in SWS. This way it will automatically start with REAPER:
- First: Go to the REAPER actions window and find the HeDa_Track Inspector VIP action. Right click on it, and "Copy selected action command ID".
- Now go to the Extensions menu, and "Startup actions", and "Set Global startup action". Paste (CTRL+V) the command ID there. Now Track Inspector will run each time you start REAPER.
If you want to run multiple scripts or actions at startup, you can combine them into a custom action and paste the command ID of the custom action instead.

Are you using REAPER x32 version? There is a bug in REAPER x32, and it won't add the actions automatically until I figure out another way to do it. I've recently learned that bug, because I did test it only in REAPER x64.

In any case, the files should be there installed in Scripts/HeDaScripts directory in the REAPER resources path. You can manually "Load..." the lua files to have them on the actions list. the same as you did with the manager.

I didn't read through this whole thread (yet) but what I was wondering if it works with any theme? I'd like to add this to Imperial. Would be cool to make it look like Imperials Theme as well!

Thanks

@JamieSEA
I haven't tried to customize it for other themes, but I added some customization capabilities to it. For example you can change font size, and font and background colors. And you can also replace the png image of the fader, and other buttons that are images.
If you manage to customize it to work well in Imperial I would love to see a screenshot I may try to do it later.
I think the best would be to do something like theming packs that can be copied to the script folder and be able to switch quickly to different themes. Or the script could detect the current theme being used and use the matching Track Inspector theme pack. I'll think about it. Thanks!

Default v1.0beta11 (2016-07-25)

Quote:
* v1.0beta11 (2016-07-25)
# Project data (track marker notes, fx groups, etc) is saved in the RPP file now instead of the external ".TrackInspector" file.
If you open a project that was saved with previous versions of Track Inspector, the data is not found in the RPP project because it is in the .TrackInspector file, so you must manually import it once, from the .TrackInspector file.
+ Import/Export project data to file (as backup for example)
+ Copy/Paste Track's marker notes between tracks
+ Global option: premaster_trackname
+ Global option: sends_navigation_auto_scroll_to_track (false by default. set to true if you want to scroll to track when navigating with right click on sends and receives)
# fix: show all notes button: showing all markers from all tracks.
The other day, I lost all my track markers notes, in one project, and I couldn't figure out when it happened. So I hope this doesn't happen again. Now I have changed the way the notes and all the other settings of the project are stored. I was using a .TrackInspector file in the project folder. But now it is stored in the RPP file. This is better. And I think I also fixed the probable cause of the notes being lost. So this is a good update to have. You can also export the data to an external .TrackInspector file as before. And the first time you open a project that was using previous versions you have to import the data from the .TrackInspector file. The import/Export commands are in a new little button [=] on the top. There is also Copy/paste notes from track to track. This is good when you duplicate a track and want to retain the notes for example.

I'm working on this new feature: Track Versions

I still need to do the one that clears the envelopes, and the delete current version. I also want to be able to rename the versions. By default it gives V1, V2, V3...etc names. Once I finish that, it will be ready for betatesting.
Let me know if you find it interesting or any idea.

Thank you raiirock, Sumalc, musicbynumbers,

no, this works a bit different than Sexan's script. I'll write some detailed information about how it works when it's done. I think Sexan's is more advanced, working with folders? I haven't tested it much.

Track Versions. This is a new big feature. It is useful to maintain different versions of a track, for example, Version 1: The original raw recordings, with all takes. Version 2: the comping and glued version. Version 3: Cleaned and automated. Version 4: Automated differently. Version 5: Final version.

The way it works is by duplicating the track and hiding and setting offline the plugins on the old version. The Track Manager maintains an internal list of all the track versions used for each track.

The advantage of this is that REAPER Clean current project directory won't delete media files of versions that are not being used. Because they are still there in the project, just hidden.

This is the basic track versions UI, with a menu to create and delete versions. A more advanced panel with all the versions and buttons to A/B different versions can be done, but for now I want you to test this and make sure everything works well.

Please let me know if you have any issues with it.

thank you, it is nice to know you all find it useful

@mehmethan Yes it is safe to use. In the worst case scenario, for example not being able to switch to other versions for some reason, you would always be able to unhide the tracks and set their fx online manually. No dangerous chunk operations are done by the script. So you can use it without any worries.
