I'm wondering if the IDE autocomplete could be enhanced a little.
E.g. when typing reaper.BR_ I'd have expected to get listed (first, or at least somewhere at the top) all SWS exported functions prefixed with BR_ but this doesn't happen currently.
The SWS exported functions (edit: and other extensions exported functions for that matter) are generally displayed when typing more though, so this is nice.

I'm getting an 'error launching installer' message when running the installer for this dev version.
Anyone else?
Windows 64bit.
EDIT: Windows Defender was reporting it as a severe threat and deleting the file before I could run it :|
Trojan:Script/Wacatac.B!ml
I assume this is false?

haha - well yes probably a wise move - but it's the first false positive I've ever had with it - maybe I'm lucky
Malware Bytes reported the file as ok

Nice little addition, thanks for that. But am I reading it wrong, to me it seems to display one line short of the 64-bit line in occasions where the last line should also be lit?

"Trojan:Script/Wacatac.B!ml"
Sounds Like a promotion/advertisement to purchase Windows defender.
Only joking, being a Linux only user as a lot of years It is a bit harder to allow trojans etc into the system, but not impossible if you aren't careful.
I have given Windows a chance lately on the last few laptops that I purchased, but bootup times have been loooong and the additional load with background shit has made my choice right.
The ease of Audio software and especially VST plugins makes leaving Windows hard to be honest, but now there are developers listening to us nerds.
Reaper, Bitwig, Waveform, Renoise have stable versions of their DAWS ported to Linux.
There are a lot of VST developers coding their plugins for Linux now too.
Don't really have a definitive point to my post, and I have been drinking a lot of alcohol tbh.... so maybe my point is maybe consider running a Linux Distro as your OS of choice

I was able to get every DAW besides Studio One working on Ubuntu. Both FL Studio and Ableton Live install with zero manual setup outside of running "wine <installer>.exe"
For VST's, your options are shite on Linux, but it's not an issue because there is LinVST and yabridge which wrap Windows VST DLL's as Linux ".so" files and bridge from there.
LinVST even has a GUI for managing plugins for it someone wrote. For both of these, you basically just have to point them to your WINE directory containing your VST plugins, and click a button (LinVST) or run one command (yabridge).
https://github.com/robbert-vdh/yabridge
https://github.com/osxmidi/LinVst
https://github.com/osxmidi/LinVst3
https://github.com/Goli4thus/linvstmanager
In general, things mostly "just worked", but there were things you'd run into occasionally that wound up requiring some effort to get working, or (very rarely) things which weren't supported at all.
Eventually I hopped to Windows because I bought a MIDI controller and the driver/controller app wouldn't run on WINE no matter what I did. Gave up, made the switch, and now just use WSL2 with Ubuntu for most stuff and Windows for music and occasional games (though Proton + WINE on Linux made gaming a breeze there too).
Linux is a completely viable option for music/audio stuff in 2021 IMO.
But this rant is neither here nor there

So far, I think this is a much better option than adapting Linux for something that still does not work natively on it.

Under certain conditions, column reorder is now correctly recalled here on mac.
As far I can see, when all available columns are checked, it still messes up the order. But, if using fewer columns and, as an example, not placing more than three columns on the left side of the ‘File name’ column, then it seems to stick. Perhaps others can confirm this on macOS.
I need only 14 columns (out of 22), and have now chosen only two columns to the left of File name. As long as I don’t perform any radical rearrangement, it will work for me.
*checked using a fresh portable install +dev0102. Also did a reset of the columns, plus restart of my full +dev installation. Both behaves the same.
Nice!
I'll still use Bitter though
.

Hello!
When you close and open the media explorer, all folders are closed.
1. Is it possible to make the folders not close when you close and open the media explorer?
2. Is it possible to add an action "open folder of this media in media explorer"
____

Nice Do you think you can also add an option that allows to leave video unaffected by mute? So that when muting a track or item containing a video, only the audio is muted but the video remains visible.

Ah yeah, improving this for the next build (the short prefixes were a problem).
You might also want to reset your IDE colors to the default (unless you like that red background) or one of the themes, via the theme tweaker window's button, or by removing the "ide_colors" line in reaper.ini

Sometimes - in the new function list (right panel) - when I focus it - and press a key - it will jump to the entries beginning with the pressed character - great! But very often - it does nothing (ie. key strokes are ignored). The list should definitely be focused from what I can tell.
It's seemingly random when it stops accepting key presses.
It doesn't seem to matter which key I press - one minute a particular key is working - the next it isn't.

Nah I don't like the red background lol.
I know we can change it in theme tweaker just haven't got around doing it yet.

Ah - regarding this one (sorry - not checked latest dev) - it seems it's a timeout thing. If I'm pressing a key repeatedly to scroll through the list of functions beginning with that character - then when it stops accepting key input - simply waiting a second or two without pressing any key - it then works again.
So no real problem - just my random key pressing causing the issue it seems (which is less likely to occur in real use).

Thanks for IDE improvements!
Would it be possible to include an option to comment/uncomment selected text in IDE? Currently using an external app (F2 hotkey) to make IDE do it like this,..

Thank you very much for that, devs! After a few tests, it works fine!
I wonder if it shouldn't be the default behavior though?

There are arguments to be made both ways, depending on use cases. You can save the default project settings the way you like.

Ctrl+F followed by copying the new text you want, then Ctrl+V/Ctrl+G to your heart's content? a little repetitive but not so bad?
OK OK fine adding Ctrl+R (will use the previously searched-for string, or any single-line selection, as the source string)
