Default Interface Noise

I recently got a new windows laptop and have been trying to set up my steinberg ur12. When I plug in my guitar, i get a bit of a delay effect with multiple repetitions, and when I turn up the volume slider or use any plugin that increases the volume, I get a lot of feedback/delay like noise.

I have tried the interface on a mac and an iPad and this problem doesn’t occur.
Can anyone suggest what might be the cause and how i can fix it?

That interface has a loopback function you can turn off in the driver control panel.

By any chance are you using the laptop sound system for output?

I ask because if you're using the laptop system sound, there may be a default effect set in the Windows audio system that could be causing the problem.

Saw that in past posts from other users.

Good luck.

Hello- if your using windows check the sound control panel/device/recording/properties/listen.. look for checkmark next to "listen to this device" >?
It may be switched on by default..and feedback loops will happen with that check active.

when you install the drivers there normally is a couple of questions about whether you want a shortcut in the taskbar or desktop, or an icon in your system tray?
Or you can probably access it by clicking the "ASIO control panel" box in Reaper's preferences / audio devices
