Default [SOLVED]Theme Icons

How do I extract a theme's icons so I use them with any theme? Right now I use the following theme

https://www.extremraym.com/en/x-raym...-reaper-theme/

I've made a custom toolbar which uses the icons from that theme.

I'd like to switch between this theme and the default theme without the icons disappearing on my toolbar(s)

Default unpack theme, copy icons to toolbar buttons folder

Hello,

You need to unpack the theme file to a regular folder, then select the toolbar icons from it and copy them into your Reaper data\toolbar_icons folder. They should all be named toolbar.......png to distinguish them from the other png images used for the theme.

Good luck,
Hartley

Hi Hartley,

thanks so much, that was a lot easier than I expected.

Some icons may not fit and/or look right with a different theme. You may want to look into a freeware program called paint.net Many of the real themers on this site use it (how do you think I found out about it?)

https://www.getpaint.net/

Anyway, I've unpacked themes and used the toolbar_blank.png file as a starting point and created a lot of custom icons that fit my current theme. It's a bit tedious, and you may wonder why you're not just making music, but for spare time stuff it can be fun.

Lol started the icon making last week. I thought once a theme was installed it placed all the icons in the toolbar folder so I was really confused when I switched all the icons disappeared

I'm not sure that I understand your question, but if you're asking about having a separate folder within the data\toolbar_icons folder, I don't think you can do that. For whatever reason, Reaper will ignore its contents; all the icons you want to use have to be in the high level folder.

Most themes icons are already named so that they don't conflict with the original icons
