Default Can anyone help out with a guitar sound?

I am the first to admit that whatever a "good" & "great" guitar sound is, I don't get it. Tho I am happy with what I do get, NO ONE is going to be in a rush to copy MY tone! LOL

Here is a link to a 31sec snip of a track that has a rhythm/chord & lead guitar sound that I love, but after a month of trying I can not even come close to it.....

http://www.lightningmp3.com/live/file.php?id=30020

Would prefer to try to keep it to Free Amp Sims/fx, but I also own a copy of Revalver Mk III.V & AmpliTube Fender sims if that helps.

What I am referring to is the "power chord" hits on the 2 of each measure...the "shimmer" of it just eludes me....

There are a lot of folks on here that get some great guitar tones, so I figured I would ask & see if anyone has a idea how to get this sound, or even get close to it....and Thank You in advance for any help ya can send my way.

Sounds like a highly compressed clean tone (you could use a fender sim with the bass rolled off a bit) compressed with ReaComp with a short attack.

Then there is some chorus and a 1/8 note delay. Also add a bit of plate reverb to taste.

Also, the eq is very bright, up around 8-10k. Hi pass it around 90Hz, slight shelving at 6k should do it.

For the rhythm tones look for something emulating a Roland Stereo Jazz Chorus as use it with single coil pickups, I know Line6 has it on their emulator but don't remember if Peavey's has it.

If you've got Amplitude Fender, try the '65 Twin Reverb/Twin Mod preset and possibly add a bit of echo.

Sounds very Michael Landau.

I'll stick my neck out.

I just did this one chord quickly. It's vaguely in the right area, but needs tweaking

I used the neck and middle pick in parallel on my Strat, with the Twin Mod preset and a bit of echo.

This sound like classic 80s chorused Strat. The chords seem to have some droning open strings common to both. I'll bet the chorus is a Boss CE-1 or Dimension D (or both) into the sort of reverbs they were using then... some nice compression in there too...

The chorus in the Ensoniq DP4 sounds very much like that. The 'shimmer' Never got it from anywhere else like that.

WOW! Thanks goes out to every one of ya for all the ideas! I see what I will be doing until the wee hours tonight...

stratman, was there any compression on your sample? I had played around with the Fender but didn't get anywhere close like you did. I have a Rogue HSS Strat copy, so I should be OK on the single pickups..

Again, Thanks Folks, it IS appreciated!

The Amplitube settings are in the pics below. I've also had a guess (and I mean wild guess ) at the chord voicings, which might be a factor. The preset includes a flanger, but I think a chorus (similar to a Dimension D, as stated earlier)) might give a closer approximation to the modulation.

I think a key aspect of the sound is probably two single coils in parallel (e.g. the neck and middle pickups)
