Default Need Help Identifying a Song

I have a mix tape a buddy made in high school. Back then, I never knew any of the songs/bands. I found the tape a few days ago, and decided to identify the songs by typing lyrics into Google.

I'm having good success, except for the last song, which gets cut off by the end of the tape before the song can really develop.

It's a dance remix from around 1986-1987. Right before it cuts off the vocals start, and it's a guy saying (not really singing, more spoken verse):

"Ooh yay-yay. Well I remember ... When I was young, everybody used to tell me about heaven, and used terms like Cloud Nine and how it was always up there under the table or somewhere ..." [tape ends]

Anybody here recognize that song??? I'd really like to track it down and hear the whole song after 33 years.

Thanks!

Hmmm, can't you play it to "Shazam" application? It should recognize even without singing if lucky.

EDIT: Or upload somewhere for others to listen and maybe recognize it.

I'm not familiar with Shazam (perhaps because I was born in the 1960's!), but I'm not afraid of learning something new, so I'll give it a try.

I thought about uploading the song snippet, but first I'd need to digitize it from the cassette, which has really crappy sound quality after 33 years. But if Shazam doesn't pan out, I'll upload it and see if anyone recognizes it.

EDIT: Success! "Ed's Funky Diner (The Keinholz Caper)" by It's Immaterial (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_UxEp3v2j9o)

I've waited 33 years to hear the end of this song!

Oh god, now I'm going to Shazam everything ...

that's fascinating.. 33 years, wow. Does the song end like you expected? Or were you surprised by the ending?

It has a very new wave vibe. Also a really long song, no wonder it got cut off.

I have to admit, it was kind of a let down. I don't know what I was expecting, but ... well, now I know.
