This was done really quick.

Make a backup of your default theme and put it as a new layout into the rtconfig file. After the whole mcp section.
Change mcp_min_height to 485.
Create a folder "xxx" and put it as a subfolder into the theme
and put the images which you have to edit with an image editor in there.
Images you may have to edit are the mcp backgrounds, the meter background, the mcp_extmixbg, the mcp label background, the mcp volume label background, the mcp_volbg and the mcp record arm button.

I also found out that these lines are missing in the default theme:

set mcp.fxlist.margin
set mcp.fxparm.margin
set mcp.sendlist.margin

That's not good for a default theme, me thinks.

Layout "xxx" "xxx"
clear mcp.*
set mcp.size [73 319]
set mcp.margin [0 200 0 0]
set mcp.extmixer.mode [1]
set mcp.extmixer.position [0 -88 74 114 0 0.25 0 0.9]
set mcp.meter [3 -193 67 100 0 0 0 0.25]

set mcp.trackidx.color ?recarm [200 0 0] [67 69 69]
EndLayout ; end of "xxx"

Maybe someone else can do it better. But this is a good starting point.

Edit: Corrected some mistakes.

witti,
you nailed it.
Thanky you so much!!!!!

With over 300 views one hit...that's ok!

To my impression, it's a bit more difficult to get help in this forum than in all the other reaper forums and I wonder why.

De nada !

You wonder why ?

I think mostly musicians visit these forums and not themers !

I also tried this, thanks witti.
But now there's the problem that the tracknames are hardly readable.

Is there an easy way I can fix this ?
I've put witti's layout as additional MCP tracklout in my default theme. Is it possible to change the trackname-color just for this tracklayout (or to put the black 'underlay' from the default layout back under it)?

(sorry, I've close to none idea about WALTER)

Sorry, i really have no time to guide you through the whole process.
As my english is really bad, it takes too long to explain something.

As i told in my post, after waltering, you have to edit a bunch of images with an image editor. {until everything looks fine.)

The mcp name background was a part of the mcp_bg image. Remove it from there and use that part as a new mcp_namebg.png.

Read the WALTER themers guide. Read about pink and yellow lines. They help here.

It's really not that difficult, but it can be very time consuming to finish a layout. Do it step by step, image by image (with it's dedicated code).

Believe me, the real trouble begins, when you set the mcp_min_height back to it's default value. I gave it that height to make things easier.

What i've learned is: The code is only finished when the images are finished. The images are only finished when the code is finished.
It's trial and error. And most of the time counting pixels...

You can add or modify the image "mcp_namebg.png" in your theme folder, it is the background for the mcp track name.
(edit: i was too slow )

I totally understand that.
I'll fiddle with it some more when I get round to it.
Thanks again.
