Default Reaper Crashes

I've been having trouble with Reaper lately crashing sudden death on:

- Track or FX removal
- Track templates insertion
- Crash DURING SAVE after FX or TRACK REMOVAL

My system has worked rock solid until recently adding new Vst plugins, installing Reaper 6.01 and some unwanted but unavoidable Windows Update.

I narrowed down to AVA MASTERING EQ and Plugin Boutique SCALER as the main offenders. Crashes happen consistently when one of these are either present in a project file or REMOVED. However, there could be other plugins involved and RANDOM crashes also happen.
There's no message, warning, mem dump etc, no "stopped responding", just SUDDEN TERMINATION OF REAPER.

My system: Dell Inspiron Intel i7 3.3ghz, 12gb Ram, Win 10, Reaper 6.01 (tested and same crashing happens in Reaper 5.83), Steinberg UR12, a heap of Vsts, amp sims, synths, romplers, drummers way too many to list...

I did a Windows memory test to eliminate the possibility of mem problems.

I would be extremely grateful if you could let me know if you experienced this or similar. Any advice on how to deal with this would be greatly appreciated. It drives me nuts and I can't focus on making music anymore.

In the meantime. ..

I just demoed Synthmaster and Synthmaster One. They both crashed repeatedly in a similar fashion as I described in my first post. No pop up message, Reaper just vanishes.

I checked the event log . There are multiple plugins (Scaler, Pigments, Synthmaster, Sektor ) plus "reaperhost 32" crashing Reaper. .or is it something wrong with Reaper?

Anyone?

Windows error logs below.

As you can see I'm experiencing an avalanche of crashes. These are a selection of the very many I had over the last few days. If anyone has any idea what's happening please let me know. I'm growing quite desperate.

First Reaper's own crashes and then various VSTs.

I don't seem to be getting any attention here... answering my own posts - great community

I'm having very many crashes with Reaper. Some caused by plugins but many are purely Reaper.
Are devs interested in this? Anyone out there?

It is sad but I think most answers you will get will come from people having same issues like me

I was searching for similar stuffs, I have myself a lot crash about ntdll.dll and just found your post...

The best answers you will get will sound like "it must be anything from faulty plugin to defective ram module, so check one by one"...

Maybe start by disabling every scripts and external stuffs and try to make some dummy project with your usual plugins and check if eveything's ok...

Sorry for not being of better help

I sincerely think community here is great, but when this is about crash bug on specific hardware with specific software, it can be really tough to find the right answer.

Tell me about it !

If neither of you get any help on here, why dont you contact Justin & Schwa? I cant remember the support email address right now but you could always PM Schwa, who spends more time in the forums than Justin, so is easy to find.

Hi, got you any fix on Reaper crash after Synthmaster? I have Synthmaster One and Synthmaster 2.9.9, and I am getting Reaper 6 (64bits, all builds) with frequents sudden death, regardless the session is fresh or after a while working. This doesn't happen with other plugins except some very outdated or some 32 to 64 bridged ones.

I wrote to KV331 support who usually reply back so well, but this time I do not know what happened, I have not received an answer. Thanks on any clue about.

Constantly (still) getting NTDLL.DLL crashes in Reaper 6.26.

Possible causes: Scaler 2 (it isn't very stable in general). I have that, and a few other (stable) plugins in the project. And it just constantly crashes.

Does anyone know what could be causing this? There's 4-year old threads about NTDLL.DLL crashes (long before Scaler 2 came out). I just do not understand. Thanks!

Still random crash with NTDLL.DLL...

I'm still on Windows 7 64 and about to migrate to fresh 10 install, maybe cleaning my plugins (too many of them, you know what I mean)...I hope it will get more stable...

Have you tried uninstalling the whole of the Nvidia driver software, including all the bells and whistles & then installing JUST the basic drivers? This cured similar problems for me years ago. Initially caused by an auto-update of the gui driver software by Windows 10, of course. I am currently using version 8.9.140 but you can check what you are using by right clicking on the Nvidia icon in your "show hidden icons" option on the task bar.

Second time I have posted this today!!

Second time I answer you, what are the bells and whistles you are refering to ?

I'm checking what optional stuff NVIDIA allow me to install when updating drivers, apart PhysX and main graphics driver, I disable everything.

Default VST crashes

Unfortunately Reaper crashes recently using IK Multimedia VST-s.
Generally crashes with Amplitube 5 on project load and Miroslav Philharmonic 2 during play within a few minutes.
I tried to almost every VST setting in Reaper (from plugin in separate process to disabling heap corruption checking) but nothing helped.
Since the same plugins works correctly without any problem in Cakewalk by Bandlab it seems to be a Reaper problem, but I did not find any support contact where I could send my problem report I write this post.

I don't know if Reaper's develepers reading this but I would be very glad if they could solve this problem. I'm also a software develeper so maybe I could send some technical information if required.

I guess it is some multithread/timing related thing because it is never occures if a debugger is attached to the Reaper process.

Default IK problem

My problem was clearly IK Multimedia's fault. I managed to reproduce the problem and they accepted it as a bug. It was not correlated with Reaper.
