MIDI Editor -- Filter Deletes Notes (Is This A Known Bug ?)
Happy 2020 Everybody!!!
I stumbled upon a problem in the MIDI editor. I'm not sure if it's already been reported. Can anyone can confirm what I found, and say if it's new or not.
Reaper 6.02/x64 on Windows 10
It seems that under certain circumstances, using the MIDI event filter causes events to be deleted.
1) Open a MIDI editor and create some notes or CC events (I'll use channel 1 in this example, but this problem occurs for any channel)
2) Open the MIDI event filter, and set it to "Show only events that pass filter" and select only channel 1, so that it shows the notes/CC you just created, but no other channels.
3) Select the notes/CC you created, and use CTRL F2 to change them to a different channel (let's say channel 2).
4) The notes/CC disappear, which is expected, because channel 2 doesn't pass the MIDI filter you set up
5) But turn off the MIDI event filter and -- HEY! Those notes/CC are gone! Somehow they didn't get moved to channel 2 as expected -- they got deleted!
If I set the filter to show both channel 1 and 2 before moving the notes/CC to channel 2, then the notes/CC get moved to channel 2 as expected.
But somehow, having the filter show only the channel the events are already on causes them to be deleted instead of being moved to the new channel when the new channel doesn't pass the MIDI filter.
Can anyone else confirm this? Is it a known issue? If not, I will submit a bug report.
