Mouse Cursor displacement when panning
Reaper v6.02 ×64bit (PORTABLE), Wndows 10 Pro (latest update)
1. TCP (make a track, track control panel)
2. click the pan knob and pan all the way far to one side →
→ cursor is way up or down after you release the panned knob.
I think it should have stayed where it was initially or... better:
to either side of the knob (correspondingly to the movement)
Please, devs, could you be so kind and fix this?

A gif worth a thousand words, so here it it is (recorded with LICEcap)
Ypu can see how the cursor goes far down (eventually over another track) or far up - over a button or another part of Reaper's interface.
What I would like is after the pan (knob) adjustment ( after I release the mouse button, regardless of the dragged distance), the cursor to be placed back on either side of the knob (and over the knob or slightly outside).

Yeah that's a bug, it should've stayed where it was before dragging on the knob. Seems to be HiDPI related, since it works fine over here in non-HiDPI mode.

Tried every combination in the Advanced Tweak UI.
Still nothing helps... will try in S1, Samplitude and Ableton.
Samplitude: circular behaviour (a bit tricky for small knobs but for big ones is OK), once you get used to it it is great!
S1: not much knobs but it also has the displacement of the cursor behaviour (shows the mouse cursor constantly though)
Ableton: the best behaviour, circular or linear it always stays where it should be - on the knob! (has manly up-down movement, left-right is a bit unpredictable), overall expected behavour

I'm on Win10 running one 4K screen and one 1080, and it works fine on both. I'm not seeing this behaviour on any of the various HiDPI modes.

LICEcap record maybe?
It is fine in Samplitude and Ableton. In Reaper it is bad.

Yeah I can't get it to happen over here either. Works just fine.

I assume you've tested this behaviour with a fresh portable install adXok?

Yes, it is fresh portable install.
What is the connection? How the portable install would affect the cursor? Sounds almost like a joke...

Currently no one else can recreate the behaviour you are seeing, so there is a possibility that something has become corrupted with your specific reaper installation. Checking this behaviour on a fresh, UNALTERED install in a different HD location (or ideally a separate computer) is a good way of double checking this, and therefore reducing the potential variables... I'm not sure what is confusing or surprising about that?

thanks for the suggestions. You were right.
On a fresh install it works fine.
Something is not quite right with mine... portable install and modification and seems I can't track down the specific reason.
That was what I meant in another thread about the best in Reaper...
Yes, to the point where you break it and lost any track of the custom tweaks you've done.

No worries. If you are keen to try and narrow it down then you could try saving your entire config from the main problem installation, then loading separate parts of it one at a time in the portable install... i.e just the scripts, or just the mouse modifiers, and you might be able to track it down. It might turn out it IS a reaper bug, but you'll need to do a bit of detective work if you want to figure out what's causing it.

That might be quite a difficult task for me, as I modified my Reaper portable installation with the giant ReWorked scripts by Breeder. And those include other scripts from other tweaks.
Still quite interesting how such a thing might get broken by custom tweaks or whatever...

So make a new FRESH portable install with no changes to any settings and see if it happens? That's how you troubleshoot things.

The thing is, my main Reaper is a Portable one with ReWorked mod on top of the same Portable install.
I made a normal install in a different location and the knobs/mouse worked fine. Something is going on either with Reaper being Portable (highly unlikely) or with the ReWorked mod.
Or any combination of other tweaks + ReWorked... tracking those down would be impossible.
I've also installed some ReaPacks from the repositories and bunch of other scripts + SWS. The outcome is a broken mouse behaviour on the knobs... that is for sure.

You can have any number of portable installs with different settings, as long as you install portable in a different folder that's all there's to it.
So yeah it's likely down to a single option somewhere in Preferences, I'd assume.
EDIT: Yeah, found the option. It's not a bug! Preferences->Editing Behavior->Mouse->[ ] Use pen/tablet-safe mode
Make sure that one is UNCHECKED.

Yep, that was the bugger! Thanks, EvilDragon.
Breeder also mention that, so it is not ReWorked mod's specific problem.
We do not need that option checked... when on PC or Mac.
For tablets and alike it might be useful though...
