Default Stereo guitars - one amp sim

Hello again! Me and a buddy of mine, have been trying to use only one amp sim and cab onto our double rhythm tracks, but to no avail... We simply want to have only one sim and cab so it's easier to change settings and impulses.

My approach was the following: I have my two DI tracks. I create another track that'll hold my amp sim and cab. I send my DI tracks to the amp sim track, panned left and right (I want one rhythm guitar left and one right). I select stereo on the amp sim and stompbox.

It doesn't work though. Because if I mute one of the rhythm tracks, I have no sound! The other track should keep going on right?

How do you deal with this kind of thing? Is it a Reaper thing or the amp sims/impulses don't work this way?

I use TS808 and Lepou's HyBrit. For impulses, Redwirez' free pack.

This is very easy to do.

I have a folder track, with the AMP/CAB on it. They both HAVE TO BE STEREO, obviously.

Then, have your DI tracks as sub-folders nested within this track, pan them L and R.

This works perfectly for me.

Well now I feel completely stupid! Your method works perfectly! God I had tried everything BUT to put the amp and cab on the folder track...
