Default annot import midi files

Hey Folks,

I surely don't know what I did this time as everything was working 2 days ago. But I can no longer import midi files. I insert a new midiitem into a track, but I can neither drag and drop the file in or copy and paste it. Nothing happens when I drag and drop and the "paste" option is not available in the drop down menu (greyed out. As always, thanks in advance for getting me up and running again.

Seems strange. You are trying to drag and drop into REAPER's arrange view aren't you (don't create new MIDI item first), rather than directly into the MIDI editor?

Have you tried importing via the Insert, Media File.. command?

Also, there could possibly be something wrong with the file. For test purposes, try it with this one, to see if it works.

Download file to your PC then drag and drop into a new REAPER project.
Attached Files
File Type: mid Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star 01.mid (10.5 KB, 81 views)

Default That was the ticket

Thank you very much! Both not inserting a new midi item on the track and the new Twinkle... file worked perfectly. I made an incorrect assumption that an existing midi file needed to be treated as a new midi item.

I have been an improvisational musical and visual artist for a lifetime. The unforgiving "matter of fact-ness" of working with a DAW for more than post production "clean up" is taking me to school. Midi, for me, is a challenge. But thanks to the kindness of the people on this forum, I am making actual progress. I am grateful!
