Default File Loading Problem

Hi
I'm trying to use Reaper on an iMac Intel with OS 10.4
When I open the demo song there is no problem, all tracks work and everything… but when I try to drag/drop a soundfile (wav or aif) from anywhere in my drive it adds only an kind of infinitesimal (not zoomable) sound-block to the track.
I found out something by accident : my soundfiles or project files are loaded without any injuries by Reaper if and only if they are in the Desktop folder. Not really convenient you do imagine.
Do you think there is any way to fix that? Found nothing in the prefs… Thanks in advance.
Already love Reaper anyway ! Bye.

Same for me.
Impossible to load 32bit float files.
Do you mean it would work if the file is on the desktop?
Regards
Franck

Yeah, for me the only way is to drag and drop soundfiles or projects from the desktop to reaper.
