Default Loop Regions Exported too Long

Dear Reaper team,

I am working in the field of sample production. I am making loops in reaper, create loop regions named # and include them in the file during the export.

When I have a loopregion # that is 294046 Samples long, export it and then import it into a sampler (let´s say Kontakt) I expect the loop to be 294046 samples long. But somehow all samplers say, that the loop is 294047 samples long. The loops are consistently one sample too long.

For testing purposes I reimported 50 files into Reaper and imported the media cues from the items. In most cases the regions magically had the right length. On some rare locations even reaper imported the region one sample too long.

* Computer Specs

- Windows 10 Pro - 1803
- Reaper 5.965 - 64 bit

I really have no idea what´s going on, but a fix for this would be pretty cool!

Thank you for your time

Best regards,

Nico

Not helpful, but just wondering when a one sample discrepancy like that would actually be noticeable? Maybe it has something to do with snap settings?

Welcome to the forums, btw.

Check

"Snap to project sample rate" in Snap settings
"Force projet tempo ... to occur on whole samples" in project settings

Hi Guys,

thank you for your answers.

@foxAsteria:

I am using the regions as looppoints. When I write them into the file during the render, then Kontakt can read and automatically import them. That is a real time saver. Kontakt offers the ability to crossfade between loop end and loop start. I want to avoid those crossfades in Kontakt, because my samplecontent is highly sensitive in terms of phase problems.

Therefore, one sample difference decides whether or not a loop is ticking or plopping when it jumps from the loop end to the loop start.

@Dstruct:Thank you. This actually sounds pretty helpful! I will try that today and let you know if this helps. Thank you very much.

Hi Dstruct,

thank you for trying. Sadly the loops are still one sample too long, when used in Kontakt and Independence.

Did you make new time/loop selections?

Yes, I tried it in a new project- made the edits again, added the loop-regions again.

Sadly the loops are still one sample too long across all samplers.

FunFact: When I reimport the files into Reaper and reimport the media cues, the have the right length.
