So I've got a bit of a complex problem I've been trying to solve. I'd like to use reaper basically as a virtual mixer for a live performance, using either an Ipad, or a touch Win 7 midi interface, or some other wireless interface to control reaper. I've seen a lot of cool tools to do this (AC-7, usine, etc), however I have two things I haven't be able to figure out if it's possible to do.
First, I want multiple separate monitor mixes out of Reaper. I've figured out how to get separate monitor mixes by creating individual tracks for each monitor, getting a receive from different tracks that I want to monitor, and then sending that out to a specific hardware output which will give me the separate monitor mixes. However, I cannot find anywhere in reaper that would allow me to control each receive volume level for an individual track via midi and every other tool I've looked at seems to not have this functionality. So my first question is, is this possible to do or is there a better way to do individual monitor mixes that would allow me to control the volume of each using something like an ipad or a windows tablet (it basically needs to be wireless control)
Second, can you hook up multiple ipads/wireless devices to control reaper with? My hope is to get a setup where the guy who runs the mixer can do sound for the house and move around changing whatever he wants, and that I can be up front and change my own personal monitor mix simultaneously. Originally I was thinking I could just use a vnc app to change everything on the laptop, however you can't have multiple people working on the different mixes since there is only one mouse cursor. So I was hoping to find a way that multiple people could be changing different inputs (basically one person changing the main mix and everyone else changing their own monitor mixes). So I'm open to anything (vst plugins, midi, crazy setups with passthrough cables
I was just hoping to find out if anyone has any idea how to tackle this. Thanks!
