Default Change default theme TCP knob/button order

Hi!

Is there a way to make the pan knob appear next to the volume knob on the track control panel.
In other words change the order the buttons appear.

In the default 5 theme the pan knob was next to the volume knob, this is what I want to acheive in the default 6 theme.

Thanks for your input!

Yes, but it needs a bit of beginner-level WALTER editing if you are feeling brave. First, read this sticky to learn how to unpack and refresh a theme. When you've done that, set Reaper to use the unpacked theme, then find its rtconfig.txt file. In there you will see that each TCP layout has a 'then' section, which is the order elements are drawn in.

Code:
; element size padding?
then tcp.recarm 20 0
then tcp.recmon 15 0
then tcp.label tcp_LabelSize 0
then tcp.volume tcp_VolSize 0
then tcp.io 34 1
then fx_group 36 1
then tcp.env 41 1
then pan_group tcp_PanSize 1
then tcp.recmode 39 1
then input_group tcp_InSize 1
...just change the order of the lines in a text editor, save the file, refresh the theme. And that's it.

Thanks alot White Tie!

That worked perfectly... pan knob is now where I want!

Some consolidated notes to self if I forget how to do this:

1. Find the Default_6.0.ReaperThemeZip file in resource folder / ColorThemes
2. Unzip it
3. Find the rtconfig.txt file inside the unzipped folder and edit
4. Refresh theme by switching themes back and forth (the new theme is called ”Reaper 6 unpacked” or something like it.

When satisfied with changes rename the Theme file;

I could not rename the unpacked file and folder themselves
trying that made the theme revert to default 1.0 or some other old looking theme, not sure which, strange indeed.

If I would want to experiment more on this theme I would just keep it as an unpacked theme in the root of the ColorThemes folder

But since I was satisfied with just the pan knob change I decided to convert back to a packed reaper theme file.

I zipped the folder ”Default_6.0_unpacked” and the file ”Default_6.0_unpacked.ReaperTheme”
and renamed the new zip file to ”Default_6.0_Jonas.ReaperThemeZip”

Then I deleted the unpacked files and switched to the new theme inside reaper

Hi again, sorry!

I tried to mail the theme to a friend.
But the theme is not working on his computer, it only works on mine. The changes from Default 6.0 do not appear when using the theme.
We even recreated the theme on his computer. Same thing, pan knob is still at the end of the row of track control buttons.

(My friend is on Reaper 6.43, MacOS Monterey, Macbook pro 2015)
(I'm on Reaper 6.43, OS X Maverics, Macbook air 2014)

Any idea what is happening here?

It's most likely a layout/scale issue. There are a number of different places within rtconfig.txt where you could have made your change, depending on your selected layout.

The solution would be to either make that change for all layouts, or to have your friend use the same Layout (A, B, or C in the Theme Adjuster) as you at the same scale (100%, 150%, or 200%).

You can now do this using the WT Theme Assembler Script that even has a button for exporting your theme under a different name.
