Default JS Synth PMX 2op PM with crazy feedback

Just finished it ! A few presets are included and the gui is operationnal.

https://stash.reaper.fm/21365/TiaR_PMX.zip

Copy the js... files in the reaper effect folder
(C:\Users\User\AppData\Roaming\REAPER\Effects on a 64bit PC)

and the ini file in the reaper presets folder
(C:\Users\User\AppData\Roaming\REAPER\presets on a 64bit PC)

check the "planes at war" preset... it is typically the type of sound i wanted it to produce.

Have a great week end

Wow, it sounds greatly! Good job, man. But is it mono?

Hello vitalker
Yes, it is mono. It's quite difficult to do poly with JSFX.

Thanks for the link Vitalker.
Just downloaded it.
Whatsup cleverly uses tables to have multiple voices.

I built my synth modules with pseudo objects (namespaces) and I cannot put those in tables (Only numbers can).

Nevertheless i will consider polyphony for my next synth.

What I did: I created new preset and replaced the name of the old preset file.

I tried it, and it sounds very cool, but I don't think I fully understand the UI. A kind of cool/strange patch came out of holding down the mouse and messing up everything but I don't think that would be reliable in the long term.

I have to take some time to make schematic of the synth and a short tutorial.
The modulation scheme is not usual. And the gui is not self explanatory.

I'm doing some little optimizations and adding some colors and live info about modulation sources (ie spots moving along with the adsrs and the lfos)...

Thanks for the nice synth !

Something i recognized...

your preset file doesn't match with your plugin.
Preset files should look like this: js-name.ini
So in your case: js-TiaR_PMX.ini

I would recommend to remove the '.js' ending of your plugins.
On my machine, and i think on many other machines too, '.js'
stands for javascript (and has a javascript symbol).
A better ending would be '.jsfx' or simply 'nothing'.

Maybe you have renamed either the plugin or the preset file before posting them ?
(Because i'm wondering where the '_js' comes from, which is why your preset file cannot be loaded.)

Takes me two seconds to change that, but newbies will have trouble with that...

regards

Use the mouse wheel for fine tuning of parameters

Thank you for the schematic! Will try it out again later.

I'm guessing that to make a parameter not automated you need to set V0 and V1 to the same value?

I really like this synth. I hope you can get polyphony working.

Here is the schematic of it's "synthesis core" (the sample rate part):

I designed PMX as a mono synth, especially concerning legato, low note priority and glide effects.

Maybe my second synth will be duo-phonic... the way the ARP Odyssey was: one osc was low note priority, the other one was high note priority... But they shared the same VCF and envelope. It allowed to play it in a very special way... especially when ring modulation or sync is on (hope they will keep this strange feature in the Korg re-edit of the Odyssey)...

PS I will be on vacation for the next weeks... will have little access to computers, but i will have time to think about all that... with pencil and squared paper.

Thanks to you all. I am working on other synth designs but I think that I will keep the modulation grid.
