I had noticed it scrolling from the bottom, but just thought it was a limitation.
Sometimes you just gotta live with stuff.
Like making sure FXparams are off before you delete a track lol,

I'm still using the C4 config from weeks back. How do I use the new one and what's the deal with the FX monitor now? I've been glossing over those posts, focusing on other stuff but I think I'm ready to delve into this one (before it changes again, ha)

You're picking it up at just the right moment
The new CSI FX Params now outputs the parameters directly into a folder (Zones/ZoneRawFXFiles). The new Configurator loads this file and lets you populate the cells from drop-down menus.
As you add parameters to the cells, they are removed from the list, so the list gets shorter as you work. If you delete a parameter from the cell it's added back to the list.
When you're done, you create the zone as before, but instead of the file ending up on the Desktop, it is put in Zones/ZoneFXFiles.
Just make sure you have the two folders ZoneRawFXFiles and ZoneFXFiles in your Zones folder and you should be good to go

@Geoff Haven’t forgotten this Will try it out after dinner tonight, been a bit wrapped up in the Configurator.
Quick question about the Buttons zone in MCU.zon. Could it be in a separate file and still be an included zone in Home?

Cool, been watching it progress, now the C4 Configurator is getting pretty slick

It's a two pass method, so that should work, haven't tried it myself, fingers crossed

Arrrgggghhbnn.
Just change ISP and my line is down.
Really wanted to break, I mean test the C4FXconfig-er.
Now I stuck as a watcher on my phone, while I wait on them sorting out this mess. 2019 and ISP can't communicate with each out... NO wonder the world's gone mad.

Surface scrolling behaviour great now
Can it work the other way too? So that if you select a track on the surface that isn't visible on the screen, the screen scrolls to place it in the middle of the on-screen mixer?

Almost
There is a Reaper API to get the leftmost Track showing, but there is no way to figure how many tracks are on the screen -- tracks could be narrow or wide -- with surfaces we just count Channels.
The only way I can see to implement it would result in that jumpy behaviour, only now on the screen -- Uggghh
We'll just have to go with what we've got, at least for now.
BTW, thanks for the great work on the C4 Configurator !

So selecting a track on the surface causes Reaper to scroll that track to the left hand side of the on-screen mixer? That sounds ok

No problem, you're very welcome I think there's a lot of potential there. I'd like to expand it out to other surfaces, probably starting with the MCU.

That part is fine.
However, similar to the Surface behaviour that just got fixed, if you Select a Track with the mouse that is not leftmost on the screen, the screen will suddenly jump such that the Selected Track is now leftmost.

Oh I remember now we've been here before, with the old, old system.
It's kinda crazy, I can't believe that Reaper doesn't have a way to scroll the mixer view to the selected track, when the track is selected from the surface. I keep thinking that I haven't got the right things set in the Reaper Prefs or there's an action I need to toggle
BTW thanks for creating this amazing project, it's really coming together now! I keep wanting to stop channelling my inner spreadsheet accountant and just play with the thing

Ok I've figured it out: In the previous build (6/29 etc) you had Reaper scroll to the track selected, like middle of the screen. it worked for both the mcp and tcp. it was great because it meant the track you select was always in view, no matter what screenset you have. please bring that back
Not sure what to call it, if only you didn't already have something called scrollLink haha

Just noticed something that seems a little anomalous as far as scrolling goes. The surfaces only scroll to the track selected on-screen when 'Scroll view when tracks activated' is checked in the mixer menu. This is the setting that links TCP/MCP scrolling in Reaper. Why would that affect the surfaces?

actually it's easier than I thought. Make shortcuts of your fav plugins that are mapped...you don't actually make them, just creates an action to insert. Then make a custom action with all in the order you want, then assign that action. Done, now a button press inserts a chain on a track and maps to the C4.

Please forgive me as this thread is 7 miles long and haven't read everything
But I haven't got anything to work yet.
I have a Midi Fighter twister so there isn't a premade mst or zon file. So I tried to make my own. I believe I did that sort of... I got the files to show up in the drop down menus in the configure menu. The console outputs this message though
OUT -> MidiFighterTwister b4 20 01
OUT -> MidiFighterTwister b4 21 01
OUT -> MidiFighterTwister b4 22 01
OUT -> MidiFighterTwister b4 23 01
OUT -> MidiFighterTwister b2 20 01
OUT -> MidiFighterTwister b2 21 01
OUT -> MidiFighterTwister b2 22 01
OUT -> MidiFighterTwister b2 23 01
OUT -> MidiFighterTwister b4 20 01
OUT -> MidiFighterTwister b4 21 01
OUT -> MidiFighterTwister b4 22 01
OUT -> MidiFighterTwister b4 23 01
My mst looks like this:
Widget RotaryA1
Encoder b2 00 7f
FB_Encoder b2 00 7f
WidgetEnd
Widget RotaryA2
Encoder b2 01 7f
FB_Encoder b2 01 7f
WidgetEnd
Widget RotaryA3
Encoder b2 02 7f
FB_Encoder b2 02 7f
WidgetEnd
Widget RotaryA4
Encoder b2 03 7f
FB_Encoder b2 03 7f
WidgetEnd
Widget RotaryA5
Encoder b4 00 7f
FB_Encoder b4 00 7f
WidgetEnd
Widget RotaryA6
Encoder b4 01 7f
FB_Encoder b4 01 7f
WidgetEnd
Widget RotaryA7
Encoder b4 02 7f
FB_Encoder b4 02 7f
WidgetEnd
Widget RotaryA8
Encoder b4 03 7f
FB_Encoder b4 03 7f
WidgetEnd
It seems the cc numbers aren't matching the console output and what I put in the mst, I also don't know why the 7f and 01 are different. I copied the syntax from the C4 mst. So I know I did most of this right, I wasn't sure on the 7f thing.
(btw, the mf twister sends a diff channel when you push and turn a knob, that's why there is b2 and b4)
So yeah there's a problem there I believe. I'm also definitely positive I don't know how to do the zone thing. For right now, I wanted to use one bank (on the twister, that is, there are four banks of 16 knobs) as 16 tracks of volume control (with the push and turn controlling the pan) But I just tried to do four knobs for now for testing purposes. My zone file looks like this: I just copied it from something else and changed rotary to trackvolume figuring the rest that I didn't have didn't matter for now. But anyhow, if someone could direct me a little I would appreciate it.
Zone Home
IncludedZones
Buttons
Channel|1-8
IncludedZonesEnd
ZoneEnd
Zone Buttons
TrackLeft TrackBank -1
TrackRight TrackBank 1
Rewind Rewind
FastForward FastForward
Stop Stop
Play Play
Record Record
Shift Shift
Option Option
Control Control
Alt Alt
Marker Reaper 40157
MarkerLeft Reaper 40172
MarkerRight Reaper 40173
Cycle CycleTimeline
ZoneEnd
Zone Channel|1-8
TrackNavigator
Rotary| TrackVolume
Fader| TrackPan
RecordArm| TrackRecordArm
Solo| TrackSolo
Mute| TrackMute
ZoneEnd

Tiny bugs,
When you import a file there is a blank at the top of the drop down menu, if you use it as a blank
to remove a definition you lose vst title from view.
If you try to create but the dir is missing say a manufactures folder you have to close and restart. You can't add the folder and try again, it says the zone was created but nothing in folder. Have to restart.

Cool, looks mostly right, I just got the Midi FighterTwister spec, will look into putting together a primitive .mst file that you can expand.

Scroll Link should work properly now.
@poetnprophet, thanks for pointing to the solution !!
On another note, geeeeez, I'm getting old, I don't even remember coding that
It got lost on the last rewrite, folks, please test and make sure it's how everyone like it

That would be amazing!
and just by the sheer size of this thread you can tell it's a great project. Looking forward to digging deeper.
Preliminary question I know I'm going to have:
Can access send slots of a selected track? Say I wanted to dedicate 8 knobs to sends 1-8 of the selected tracks? I sort of got the impression I wouldnt be able to do that as of yet looking through the documentation. I see a tracksendvolume (or something to that effect) but not specific slots.
It looks like in the zone files you can assign knobs to trackvolume and it interpolates the first knob to the first visible track and then continues on. Am I on the right track here as far as understanding how this works? Apologies for the inconcise ramblings.

The blank at the top of the list is the fix to stop the drop-down opening at the bottom on Windows. I can remove it, but you'll have to scroll the drop-down everytime you open it. I'll see if I can fix it.
I noticed this too, when re-opening a saved sheet, there's no save directory. Current workaround is to re-open the raw text file you built the sheet with. All the parameters will still be assigned (ie the list will still be empty) but the directory will be restored and it should create as before. Will try and find something more elegant.
Thanks for testing

I think the blank is better than scrolling. Maybe add a foot note about "delete with the delete key" # > and mention about directory and reloading raw file (which I was what I'd just found out worked and was about to suggest as a workaround) would be my only suggestions.

the littlest thing,
border around Push/rotary/alias and their alignment, (maybe centred)
Blank works and can also be used to blank/correct, double bonus.
Suggestion, is there a way to lock the input grid from scrolling, so you can scroll thru the raw file. not a biggie either way, just a thought.
Some of the bigger files, i like to look thru it to see whats there before i start. but that's just me.

When I'm done with the function, I'll be sure to give the form more consideration

Trying to decide on syntax for FXMenus:
Code:
Zone FXMenu|1-8
DisplayUpper| FXNameDisplay
RotaryPushA| GoFXZone
ZoneEnd
Struggling with what to call the Action -- GoFXZone doesn't seem like it's the one, any ideas ?
The Action goes to whatever Zone the FX slot contains.
GoFXSlotZone seems worse, again anything better, please speak up

Does the RotaryPush activate the Zone associated with the FX named in FXNameDisplay?

Yes, well, Slot actually.
This is the first way of managing FX that allows for more than one instance of the same FX on a Track.
So, to be precise, the RotaryPush Activates the Zone AT the INDEX, indicated by the place it occupies on the row -- A1, A2, A3...
So if the 4 FX were on row A of the C4:
La2a - ReaComp - ReaEQ - ReaComp
You could access the 2nd instance of the ReaComp in Slot 4.
You can't do that with SelectedTrack mapping, that's more for things like Console1, etc.
FXMenu is kind of like an amalgamation of Focused and Selected, if that makes any sense
