Default skin request -

I'd love to see a skin based on Flux's "alchemist" plugin:
is there any way to extract the graphics out of the .dll?

For one of those current and trendy darker themes, that look would definitely be nice for REAPER. All the main components needed seem to be there.

One of the problems of implementing a GUi that looks like the Alchemy plugin is that Reaper has close to no knobs.

The developers of Reaper don't like 'em. Just look at all the Reaper plugins. There a knob in the sends on the MCP, and that's about it.

The Alchemy GUI is beautiful, functional and controls a plugin, not a DAW. The nicely shaded edges, very good readability of the text, fine meters and in general an excellent colour choice would serve Reaper well, if the theme designer can make them work on all the repetitive elements in Reaper.

One has to remember that many elements in Reaper repeat on each track, which the design has to take in to account. The Editing area is an aspect of Reapers design not accounted for in the Alchemy plugin.

Perhaps all our prominent theme creators would like to comment ?

I for one love the warm colours of the Alchemy plugin. Maybe I'll make some TCP and MCP panels of my own to look like this. It would take me a lot longer to get lesser result than Monsieur White Tie for though.

perhaps not a rip, but an "inspired by" theme. I think someone could make faders that match the style and spirit of the knobs...

I really like how there is shading around all the controls too. I assume this would be pretty tough for reaper skinning. there's probably just one universal texture/color for everything, no?

You can do fading without any trouble, but there are no knobs so you would prolly have to do linear fades, lot's of themes have them, some more subtle than others. Anything with a 3D look is a gradient. For track and mixer panels have have two states (selected/unselected) so there are four panel backgrounds that can all be different. Then you can put overlays on top of those as well. The question is how to apply them.

My old Red Aglow theme has some of these attributes but more extreme in colour - https://stash.reaper.fm/theme/184/Red_Aglow_III.rar

I might be able to cobble something up by toning down Red Aglow's dark track panels and adding some of that nice yellow somewhere (vu meters?). I don't know if I can be bothered with overlays for it though - if nobody else wants to do a more accurate rendition

The knobs are hardcoded, just like the ones in the MCP sends. They're not painted gfx.

I'm all for doing a colour scheme like the one in the plugin. The shaded look on the other hand may not be practical for tiny areas like the TCP and MCP.

I'd copy the meter style in a New York minute though.

I have an unfinished theme that's using almost the same colorscheme as the alchemist plugin,
But I won't finish and release it before the Reaper 3.0 version is finished or atleast all the graphical additions/implementations are locked down
