Default Komplete Kontrol users !!Warning!! v-2.1.1 problem

Loading an existing project that contains KK instruments will crash Reaper.

Surprisingly this doesn't happen in Cakewalk.

New projects created with KK 2.1.1 are OK.

Hehe I'm officially in trouble.

Oh well it's not really a catastrophe.
I spent a couple of hours launching the project in recovery mode, replacing the KK instruments and it's loading fine.

What is annoying is that I spent more time trying to find a way to get access to the 2.1.0 version, which I haven't.

And it's also my bad that I don't have a recent enough backup to pull out from it the 2.1.0.

Two things you might try:
look at the crash report - windows event viewer - there may be clues there or get a copy of 'WhoCrashed' it is free. See what that says.

Install a fresh, portable version of Reaper and try to open the same crashing old project

Good luck

Thanks,

Whocrashed doesn't say much because it's not a system crash.
The Event viewer says the following but there's not much I can do with it

Only the NI bakers could do something with this, but you know their policy "Don't call us we'll call you".

Anyway my case is really not dramatic, after all I'm quiet new to Reaper so I had only one small project with 10 KK instruments, I replaced them and all is working fine.

I was rather thinking of folks who are working on huge projects with tons of KK instruments.

I very recently went through a crash syndrome, every time I tried to record midi, Reaper would crash. Well, not crash, but do the "Not Responding" thing. It took me 4 intense days to finally figure it out.

It turned out to be a Kontakt program I purchased a couple of months ago, called "Renegade". It's an acoustic guitar that I really like a lot.

When I rendered the midi to audio and took Renegade out, my problems went away.

I have the Renegade too but I haven't done anything yet with it.

However following your post I've just made a quick test on a blank project.
I've recorded 1 track with renegade through Komplete Kontrol,
then 1 track with Renegade directly through Kontakt,
then another midi track.
I haven't noticed anything unusual.

Good luck.

Yeah, I used it on a half dozen projects before this one and didn't run into any problems either.

In this particular project, I had 3 instances of Renegade in 1 instance of Kontakt, although I
was only using 2 of them.

I haven't had a problem yet, but, maybe try re-batching the libraries in Kontact. Could be why I haven't had a problem too. Just an idea anyways.. It does help with reducing load times, if anything. Many instructional videos on YouTube..
