Default Bouncing / Naming Script needed

Hey fellow Reaper’ers

I need a script written to greatly shorten the time needed to bounce files for students on my course.

Basically, I have a backing track, then I have 1000 tracks with student full names as track name.

These names are all muted at the moment.

I would love a script that selects (or starts at) the first student track, un-mute. Bounce the master (with this track playing). If possible with the selected track name being included in the bounce name.

Then to move down to the next track and repeat the process.

Does anyone know if anything like this exists?

Or if not, could anyone write it for me for a fee?

It would be a massive help.

Have a good Sunday

I don't think you need a script.

I think you can just select all the tracks, un-mute all of them, then render and in the render dialog set Source to "Selected tracks via master" and filename to "$track". (Click "Wildcards" to see the list. Something like "$tracknumber-$track" might be useful.)

Edit: oops, missed the backing track complication. Thinking about it...

Ok, I think I got it. Leave the tracks flat (no parenting/subfoldering). Unmute all the student tracks (you can select them all and hit the M on one track). Go in to the routing matrix (Alt-R). On the left, find the backing track row, and just to the right of the "X" for that row, click and drag rightward across all the student columns to establish a routing from the backing track to all the student tracks. (Clicking and dragging saves you having to click all 1000.) Make sure you don't miss any.

Then render as described above. The routing causes the backing track audio to be mixed with each student track audio, and then both are played through the master together, which should be identical to what you heard before.

If the backing audio is too loud or quiet, adjust the level on the backing track with the fader. You can also adjust the individual routed levels, of course, but with 1000 tracks you obviously won't want to.

And next time sort our your workflow before you have 1000 tracks on your hands. :-)
