Default Recording on a Chromebook?

(I posted this in the linux sub-forum and got plenty of views and no answers. My guess is they are all "no". Reposting here to reach a wider audience.)

Reaper runs fine on my old Acer chromebook in the linux container. I can hear audio output on my headphones plugged into my interface (Scarlett Solo gen 3), but I can't get audio input to work, so I can't record my bass.

Has anybody figured this out?

(I googled for hours and tried many things. I found no evidence that anyone solved this, but I thought I'd ask the question fresh, since chromeos/linux is always evolving.)

Does Reaper see the mic inputs from your interface?

I really don't know but most of these "little USB interfaces" are plug-and-play with the standard Microsoft-supplied and Apple-supplied drivers and I guess Linux has drivers that work just like the Microsoft & Apple drivers.

If a USB mic works most 1 or 2 channel interfaces should also work.

That interface has zero-latency direct-hardware monitoring so the monitoring path doesn't have to go through the computer. You just need USB power.

What does the device info (top right corner of screen) say?

Have you set up the audio device under preferences and if so what are thise settings?

or do you not even get that far? Did you set up that on the Reaper default opening message?
