Default angus who? ac/bc ?

so i started this thread because i wanted to get an idea of what i could get my guitar to sound like

the asides about ac/dc arnt really relevant
the were a very produced band and like someone said
the player makes the guitar

it works the other way too though
i ve never had a guitar with as good tone that was so sensitive

i have a di demo but i think the conversation has passed by me

Kim Thayil of Soundgarden made the most use of what I think of as a characteristic of SGs - having a bendy neck.

Otherwise nascent Allan Holdsworth in his SG period, when he was going through a more "basic" amp set up.

those are some intresting examples of sg players i will definatly check them out
ironically im not familer with derick trucks so i have a lot of that to listen to which should be cool

The bendy neck thing is why I got rid of my SG. Ham fisted bass player & bendy neck dont mix!

When I first met Kim Rew, he was playing an SG and using the bendy neck to great effect. At one stage, a pal of ours (Pete Towers) adapted an EB0 to become a guitar and with the longer neck, the bending was absolutely insane!

Fortunately, Kim finally joined me in liking Fneders. Nowadays, he plays a Telecaster most of the time when gigging, but played a Les Paul the last time we recorded something together IIR. Oh, and he bought his missus an EB0, too!

I always loved the sound of Frank Zappa's SG. The live solo at 5:48 is representative.

I bought my SG coz a guitarist who recorded a lot in my studio almost exclusively used his here at my place plus I always liked Zappa's and Todd Rundgren's "The Fool". I didn't realize I was getting a Slim Taper D neck, which I have found out I love. My L6S has a C profile neck, and the Slim Taper D neck is so much easier to play to me.

SG's don't really have a sound. Or, let me rephrase that, if they do it's pretty much the same as about 300 other models with the same pickups in them.

Fight me.

The Young bruvvers to me have the all time best heavy sound. Being able to play open chords means distortion not too much. Always seemed to me the cleaner you can play the louder it will sound........

Hmm?
A great deal of 'the ACDC sound' is a Gretsch Firebird.

I can't believe this thread has made it to 2 pages without anybody mentioning Sister Rosetta Tharpe.
