Post your click source/metronome sounds please.
Though it would be good to have a nice collection to try out.
So, post 'em if you got 'em.

This is a good idea.
I will record some real ones in the next day or two.
So far though, I like this one for electronic click.

Oh yes, very good idea..
Here are the two sounds of the Seiko SQ50 http://www.forwoods.co.uk/php/showProducts.php?plu=SQ50 (that's the old model, not the new SQ50-V)

I posted this before but it kind of passed under the radar and I think is connected to this thread.
Wouldn't be great if we could preview the sounds of the metronome from the metronome browser?
If you have 10 cowbell sounds, how do you know which one works better for the job...
As it is right now, you have to preview them from the media explorer and then go hunting them from the metronome browser.
Cool idea by the way, sharing metronome sounds...
:-)

That reminds me that I always longed for some nice finger snapping as metronome sound.
Too bad, that fingersnaps have a quite long initial phase before the actual snap. Cutting it away makes it sound unreal, leaving it makes the metronome come after the beat. Sometimes I wish I could somehow shift the metronome a bit backwards to accommodate that, or put an anchor in the file to be the spot that is on the beat. Well, not enough that I would raise this as a FR .
Currently I use stick sounds, quite similar to those already posted by nofish, so I don't think I need to upload them.

I have always found a sampling in someone saying "1,2,3,4" tightly to be the most effective as humans are designed to pick up on speech and midrange sounds really well. My problem is i deal with so many timings in my own music i often find it's better to just have a beep for every beat with no accent.

THAT is a great idea!!! I have often wanted that for a shaker or something as well.
Do a FR for some kind of anchor!!!

but you can always save your sampler as a track template with the midi clip saved with it. this way you can have the offset built into the clip and your not limited to just two samples.

Thanks for the above click samples. I find it impossible to record with the default metronome sounds, and these helped.

Am I just dense, or is there no way to change the default metronome so that when I start a new project, I don't have to go in and browse for my alternate click files in the metronome? Drives me crazy.

Not dense. Lots of places to look.
Set the metronome, find the Project settings (Alt+Enter if i rememb corr) hit ' Save as default project settings'. Useful for other stuff too.

I should know this, but is it possible to route the click to an output other than the main buss? Would help a lot in doing headphone mixes.

Yes. Insert>Click Source. Then route that click source track just created to your headphones (ALT + Left Click the IO button so it won't be sent to the Master Buss).

These are samples that are either like or from the Urei metronome click from the 70's. I find that this one doesn't have the bleed trouble from headphones and it cuts through everything.

Nice!

I recall trying a demo of energyXT on Linux years back and loving the metronome sound on that. Somehow it cut through and just...clicked...for me. I'll have to sample those and see how they compare with the others here.

Right click on metronome to get properties, on this page there is an I/O button there, click and route to any outputs.
Sid.

heres a few hat loops i use a lot all in 120 bpm, these tend to work best for me when recording vocals because they rarely bleed into the mic unless headphones are loud

(I'm going through the offerings right now, thanks a lot everyone!)
Native Instruments's Guitar Rig 5 (which already has a metronome folder) has one I like called ch.wav. Not too poke-your-ear-with-a-sharp-stick, nor too pitch-centric like Steinberg's. On the order of an egg shaker. If it's legal to upload it let me know.
I also have a problem, once I assign the two metronome waves in Reaper, it doesn't save it. Goes back to default next time.
Is it supposed to remember the two waves you specify?

LOL II! Actually I may have trimmed a small amount of nothingness off the beginning, to keep it reasonably tight/accurate on the beat.
Still, why doesn't Reaper's metronome (x86) remember the waves I specified?

I asked the same question a few posts back, and this was the helpful response:

Thanks caotico/arbogast, that worked and I'm certainly happy about it.
Having said that, it might be worth suggesting an Apply button in Reaper's metronome section. I'd be surprised if many people intuitively got the metronome to "stick" (haha a pun!)

From one project to the next....work is never done!
(Would be cool, c'mon!)
wouldn't work on secondary beat...dang it
