Render errors when using SFZ
Newbie question. Been using Reaper for a couple momths now and still learning (and yeah, I'm loving it!) but I've got a problem with the rendered WAV file on my first completed project.
Here's my process: I compose my songs using Noteworthy, then export the dum lines as a MIDI files. Originally I'd been pre-rendering the MIDI files using SynthFont, but then a friend put me onto SFZ. It seems so much easier to use, I can make minor adjustments to the drum lines and it saves a whole lot of disk space - about 1 GB on my current song.
The song sounds great when mixing, but when I rendered it and played the WAV file back, there are some extraneous events on the drum tracks - extra snare hits, hat hits, etc. The only FX used on the tracks was ReaEQ.
Is there an obvious reason for this? What's the best way to have MIDI files render accurately? Should I be rendering the MIDI drum tracks to WAVs within Reaper before doing a final rendering?
Any help/advice would be gratefully received.
Cheers,
Steve

Use SFZ in single core mode. It doesn't render correctly in dual core. You can run all your other stuff in dual core mode in Reaper.

Hello,
I have a question:
how can you ask Sfz not to run in dual core and have the rest take advantage of the multicore ?
I just bought a Quad, and I pretend I have a mono core so all my free vst run fine... (Synthedit in multicore, anyone ?
But it would be cool to be able to use all the power of our multicores...

Thanks. I do have the multicore version of SFZ and everything plays fine while mixing, with up to a dozen instances running at once. This issue only occurs in the rendered WAV file. I tried switching to single-core mode and the problem persists.
Next up I tried that "render to stem tracks" function and it did the same thing. I can actually see the extra hits in the rendered track. Check out the screenshot - ringed in blue you can see an example of this problem.
Anyway, then I tried "apply FX to track as a new take" - and that works perfectly. It's not as neat as just rendering the raw MIDI tracks, but it's also not hard to do. Even on my current 11-minute song, each track renders in just a few seconds. Of course, I start chewing up disc space again, but at least I can make music :-)
Is this the way I'm going to have to do it? Or am I still missing something?
Cheers,
Steve

Old topic, but still struggling with this also.
Hard glitches and error in files all the time indeed.
I know there are other options for sfz files, but SFZ+ is still the best after all the others I've tried.
Anybody has an answer how to render it in single core?

yeps, tried all the render methods, but didn't work.
I appears random.
So I try rendering 20 times or so until I have a version without spikes LOL

Did you try rendering to wav?
I see you're also rendering the master mix so are rendering anything else that could be inserted in the chain...other track FX or bus FX...How about if you try to freeze the SFZ track before final render in the FX options.

It's to mp3 but I think wav was the same problem.
Freezing might be a solution !
Thx !

I am getting this too, it sounds like a fart sound or something, really annoying, but i do know sfz has several different modes of disk access, and it could be a matter of trying different ones of those.
If you can find the sf2 player Take1 by Terry West, that one seems to work error free as far as I can tell.
