Default midi not plays

hi,
i need to edit (mute solo track) on midi file.
Never did it in reaper.
I did check midi pref... Midi outputs - Enabled MS GS Wavetable.
No Go... The file plays in media player. I can play other saved projects.
so no problem with sound card to speakers. And I understand Ms GS Wavetable should send midi converted sound to sound card but it is not happens.

What to check?
Thanks.

You will need to set the output of your track to the MS Wavetable Synth. Click the track's Routing button for the dialogue window.

Just to add to the above … the option you need will be in the top right of the dialogue, "MIDI Hardware Output", first item, which will probably say <no output>

Click and select the MS GS Wavetable Synth

The routing button is the big black button!

Are you trying to get audio into Reaper?

Since you have audio setup in windows(I assume) and working - you have to use the same audio drivers in Reaper.

Most often you use an asio driver and a music soundcard to get low latency. That is not possible with DirectSound or DirectMusic or whatever driver.

But should be possible to get audio into Reaper if that is what you want - and then adjust timing a bit since those Direct---- drivers are not low latency. Audio will not line up with midi itself so well.

thank you all for advises...
basically the first response fixed my problem

is it doable somehow to all tracks?
I had a 19 tracks imported midi file and had to click 19 times on routing for selecting the output.
I guess should be some shortcut to this thing...
