Default can't hear the hihat

hello Reaperers.

i have a problem and it's driving me insane.
a sound isn't coming out of the speaker.
it happens mostly with hihat samples.
other sounds like kicks and snares are fine.
it happens in media explorer when i select a hihat sample
but it also happens on the arrange area and inside reasamplomatic5000.
sometimes i can hear the sounds but a lot of the times i can't
especially when it's soloed.
does anyone know what is causing this?
is there a log file i can get and paste here?

Reaper=6.41
OS=Monterey 12.0.1

maybe you are deaf on these frequencies?

speaker defect.

check your monitor fx, maybe you got something de-essing dialed in

when using a noiseplugin you can here upper frequencies?

set a reaeq with one band behind a noiseplugin and slide through the frequency-range

upload a sound sample of the used hihat track or sample. so we can test if the issue lies there.

..

maybe you have a phase issue somewhere in the audio path
