Default Reset all MIDI devices doesn't work as expected

I use two different MIDI controllers over USB, AKAI MPK 261 and Korg Prologue. I leave my DAW open most of the time but sometimes will turn off the MIDI controllers. When I turn them back on, I can reset MIDI devices usually but often the Korg Prologue will not be recognized by Reaper and require a restart of the entire DAW.

Why does Reaper properly reset the MPK 261 but not the Prologue? They are both recognized by Windows. I run 3 different project files simultaneously, two of which are over 50 minutes in length. I prefer to avoid reloading these projects every time to simple reestablish connection to a device through Reaper, which you would think is possible interactively.

You can see the attachment what Reaper shows for the prologue vs. MPK 261. Again, restarting the DAW, both prologue devices will be enabled.

By the way I love REAPER, best DAW I've used hands down. This is a minor annoyance but perhaps there is a solution.

Details:
Reproduce problem:
1. Power off Korg Prologue synth while Reaper is open.
2. Power on Korg Prologue synth.
3. Observe that Reaper MIDI devices for Korg prologue are no longer connected but Prologue is connected in Windows properly (see attachment)

Computer specs:
Reaper 6.15 x64
Windows 10 Pro Version 2004
Intel i7 8086k
64 GB memory
MSI z370 SLI-PLUS
Clarett 8Pre USB audio interface
Korg Prologue analog synthesizer with USB midi interface

Bumping this as I updated OP to include specs and how I reproduced problem, didn't see the stickied thread.

Also FYI I'm willing to Paypal 20 USD to someone who can solve this or lead me to a simple solution which doesn't require closing Reaper constantly.

I had similar issues with mt Novation Launchkey. Have you tried plugging the offending midi device into a different USB port? Worked for me

What happens if you add:

reaper.midi_reinit()

to the end of the main() function in that script?

As Reaper should take your controller back, probably something else take control of your controller, like internet browser or driver utilities.

I think it does the same thing like user do in preferences.
I remember initially it was in the script, but I removed it, since resetting audio is enough for reset midi. But I can be wrong and I have to add this function too.

I think you're correct that it's not necessary, but I was thinking that the OP should try everything... It could be that some other software is taking ownership of the device handle, but then I would also expect that a restart of REAPER would NOT solve the problem. It's very strange.
