Default Use multiple ASIO devices together?

Is there some magical trickery that would allow the simultaneous use of multiple audio interfaces to record in a Reaper project? I have an old 2 channel audio interface that could be put to use if this is possible.

perhaps!

Spawn a new instance of reaper.
Set the new one to use the older asio interface.
then make the new one slave to the original instance Via MTC or the like.

then you can simply copy tracks from one to the other.

does that work?

I think it's more a question of the drivers; maybe Asio4all could amalgamate the 2 devices into one (not that I've tried it)?

supposedly it can - although when I tried ASIO4ALL in the past, it didn't play nice with my Layla 3G. Maybe i'll try again.

I was hoping for some crazy stuff, like opening two instances of reaper with separate ASIO devices, and using a third with the Rearoute ASIO driver that has all the i/os from both devices amalgamated and available to use (could this be feasible?)

As long as the recording and playback offsets are maintained for both devices, I don't see why running them simultaneously shouldn't be possible...

Just for information, I recently discovered that Apple Mac's natively have the ability of create an "Aggregate Audio Device" which basically aggregate all the connected audio devices in order to maximize all the inputs and outputs. Check this: http://www.apple.com/pro/techniques/aggregateaudio/
Don't know if exists such software/driver that can create this functionality on Windows...

Hmmm,

Looks like this would all be about clock routing. It would be a lovely thing to have available to Reaper, but looks as though it could be a bit of a tin of worms. Does anyone know how well it works in Mac-land?
