UAD OCTO Card
Any body out there in Reaper land successfully runni9ng a UAD OCTO Card?
Are you able to list your OS Video card etc I am having the dickens of a time and can not find why my computer is crashing and just sitting there with a blue loop spinning in the centre of the screen while Reaper has a rest!
The light outside of the OCTO Computer case is cycling two reds then 5 greens while the inside lights of the OCTO are flashing steadily in sync green
In hope

OCTO Card is KAPUT!
Took quite the long time to find out after uninstalling
the UAD software getting rid of preference folders in my
separate BiOS set up.
I found this info how to do it deep in the UAD website so that is good.
I was told in a rectangular box "This Device is not
using any resources Because it has a problem."
Something positive in knowing this.

Hi, Steve!
I am using PCI-E UAD SOLO card. It differs from OCTO only in the number of processors. It works successfully on different systems: Intel (i7-3770 and i5-9500), I changed two motherboards Gigabyte, several generations of Nvidia video cards. Operating systems win 7 and win 10. The card worked perfectly in any configuration.

Many thanks Max
I have to get my UAD OCTO card fixed
Has anybody out there had their card fixed through UAD I am in NZ
I still have a crew looking at it however I need to be pro active
I will see how they go with it but may have to go overseas to get it fixed.
No burning smells or anything like that.

It seems my UAD OCTO PCIE card is unable to be fixed.
Shattering news.
I need to wait until it arrives back to me.
I would have thought anything soldered could be fixed...
Must have thought wrong.

This might seem obvious, but just in case ....
Did you try re-seating the card in the PCIe slot, or a different slot?

Thanks aomahana
I tried almost everything
The card when I purchased it (ebay) worked intermittently
then just went downhill as time went by and not much time either.
The bloke that I purchased off declared it was going well before I got it, who really knows.
I have to work out whether I would be better to just carry on as I am or purchase another. Looking at a USB3 Satellite.
Thanks for the thought.

In answer to your original question, I have been using a UAD 2 Duo since I upgraded from a UAD 1 in 2012. Runs fine with Reaper.
On rare occasions it has stopped working and I have had to re-seat it.

Mine was sent away to the experts in NZ to be fixed I will wait and see what they say about it, they are sending it back to me as "unable to be fixed" I got a short life with it it was crashing out when in use (hardly any load) and was causing my computer to restart on shut down, it was never reliable.
A tough call to re finance another given this one.

I really hope it was very cheap, mate.
That`s the risk of buying used on ebay.
My 2 UAD-1 pcis were both used off ebay, so I guess I have just been really lucky, although I use the UAD plugins less & less these days. Mostly just the Plate 140.

I got the Chandler Limited TG12413 Zener Limiter recently ivansec
wow what a sound I can not replace that.
Thing is I do have also a PCIE Quad this was my first card so I am able to record my files with what effects I can without overload then remove them when I go from instrument to instrument.
I have found DMG plugins and Relab so I am starting to see that the UAD path is not the only one there are good normal vst's.
UAD have dropped the price for satellites but heck I have searched high and low for info on what might be wrong with my card the silence has been deafening from the main parties.

No not cheap Ivansec I had a look on ebay
it was well over a 1,000.
Some news though.
I have been on to UAD for many months I could not get any help whatsoever things had been going around in circles hence me speaking out now.
It is very stressful having your gear go wobbly and everyone associated with the manufacturer of the product bends and twists.
This is a quote from who I consider the reps of UAD in New Zealand.
I sent them my card as they said that they had repair facilities. The OCTO went to Christchurch and Auckland as far as I am aware.
If you want to know if anything of UAD is being phased out here it is.
This is their reasoning below.
"Tiny surface mount components requiring specialist equipment
PCI no longer supported – no testing available
Discontinued model – no OEM parts
No longer under warranty"
Now I knew I had no warranty I never thought or tried to out fox these people pretending I was owed a warranty exchange.
That said where is the customer in this?
I spent many months communicating with the UAD help desk I asked them ( I think twice ) whether they could repair the card, they never replied to that one.
I have to replace the card with something, I have changed my mind as to the size card and may get a USB Quad, the Quad PCIE I already have has not missed a beat.
The UAD Plugins are great I like them very much but I have to ask of their answer to why their representative in NZ and UAD themselves is, 'where do they place their Customers in the list they do not seem to appear at all".
I am self employed in hard times and I would put my customers right at the top always.
Note well "discontinued Product".
There are still PCIE containing motherboards being produced around the world.

I had exactly the same situation with my A/D card for my focusrite Octopre LE.
Focusrite didn`t want to work on it at all & quoted me 60UK pounds to "have a look" & then (IIR) about 100 an hour to fix it.
Comes back to the same old thing. Nobody wants to repair anything these days.

Ivansc
What plugins are you using now?
I was looking at waves?
They have really good write ups these days and I could afford the likes of the Abbey road ones does you or anyone else you know use them?
Are they difficult to install?
On the UAD front I am not going to keep with them I could buy a car for the price instead of a PCIE card and get 15 years running.
Thing is my PCIE cards on record some have been bad from day one. I will use it till it drops better with hardware or just VST's.
I am pleased I found DMG this year and I have an Anamod.
Keep at it
