I like the idea for aesthetic reasons but I don’t see a practical benefit and if there is none it might be hard to convince devs. Currently the drawing of the peaks during render functioms somewhat like a progress bar.
The Practical benefit is you could see how long it's going to take to finish the Render instead of having to look at the countdown numbers for remaining time. Much more intuitive

If it was accompanied by a % readout I agree. Otherwise I don’t really see the difference between these and the peaks being drawn progressivle. If you see the peaks have been drawn about half way through you know it is going to take as much time as it has taken up to that point, just like a progress bar.
Yes the progress bar looks neat, more compact and this information may jump a bit more quickly to the eye but there are many similar UI requests which add more practical benefit than this and which are perceived like gimmicks by many users (and probably the devs) so I wouldn’t get my hopes up for this.

The REAL progress bar is impossible to implement since you can not measure time of rendering before rendering. So 50% drawn peaks or 50% progress bar (based on what was already rendered) doesn't mean 50% rendering conplete. Maybe this would work for online render, but I'm not sure.

It doesn't have to be perfect but simply add time elapsed with time remaining for the length and use time elapsed for the progress. If Microsoft can have progress bars that zoom to 80% in 10 seconds and then spend 5 minutes on 80 to 100 ours would be fine.
REAPER does show render progress in the taskbar (or docker) icon.
While the taskbar does show progress, I would ideally like to see a countdown progress bar showing % completed and remaining time. No biggie. The Estimated Remaining time is most useful but I would prefer it to have a progress bar next to it if it was an option.
I just wanna poke at ya Mac users; Windoze uses the horizontal rendering bar right on the icon, so Mac OS’s choice of making an icon look like it’s not “full” yet is something you should talk to Apple about
