Default Delete Key Not Working When Mapped Via MIDI Learn

To the devs:
Under Actions in Reaper I added the "Delete" key as a shortcut for "Remove Items/tracks/envelope points [depending on focus]". I then mapped the Delete key on the QWERTY keyboard to a button on my MIDI keyboard.

Now here's the problem: after I select an item (or a track), I then press the mapped delete button but nothing happens. I can't delete items, tracks or env points with the assigned button.
Using the same delete mapping config, I was able to delete items in Sonar, Studio One, and even selected items in the Windows OS.

Can you please look into this? I'm trying to map as many things as I can to my Openlabs Neko LX5 Workstation so I can avoid using the QWERTY keyboard as much as possible. Thanks.

PS...I should also add that "Remove Items/tracks/envelope points [depending on focus]" cannot delete a track when activated via a toolbar button. It will delete items and env points, but not the whole track. Is this a bug or is it by design?
