Default Reaper in mac

**EDIT** had to clear the cash and rescan for vst then it worked. thank you all for your help**

just switched from windows to mac. i feel like i've never seen a computer before!!!

I'm trying to find the vst folder. nothing comes up on search, yet when i open reaper and go to locate the vst folder i see the full path! Library/Audio/PlugIns/VST

can i drop the file into the open window in reaper? if not, how in gods name to i locate the folders?!!?

they also gave me a components file, can't find that folder either.

please be gentle... thanks

In general, there are two locations:
  • System folder (shown in Fergler's screenshot above): MacHD/Library/Audio/Plug-ins
  • User folder: MacHD/Users/<username>/Library/Audio/Plug-ins

Components folder is for AU (Audio Unit) plugins. Audio Units will not display proper values in automation, so unless there's good reason (like the VST version won't work) I always use VST, and preferably VST3 with REAPER.

In Finder, if you click on Go in the menu bar, then hold down option (alt), Library will show up and you can navigate to Audio > Plug-Ins.

Found the folder (which was not showing up in view by default so i had to get a friend to help me, so dumb), dropped in the "component" and the "vst" files in corresponding folders. when i go to add them in reaper they don't show up. options/preferences/vst/edit

i went as far as to restart the mac book.

I'm trying to install the nick crow guitar plug in. this was what they told me...

Mac OS X Installation
Open the DMG disk image file " NC_8505_Lead.dmg". For AudioUnit plug-in drag & drop the "component" package from it into the folder "/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components/" folder on the hard disk. Both 32 and 64 bit plugins included in one package. For VST plug-in drag & drop the "vst" package into the folder "/Library/Audio/PlugIns/VST/" folder on the hard disk. Both 32 and 64 bit plug-ins included in one package. Restart your host audio application."

In REAPER, open preferences and go to Plugins > VST, then press "clear cache/rescan.

EDIT: Just saw your first post.
