Default "ACTION: Wait X seconds" ....why by seconds and not by bar/measure?

so i just noticed these actions for the first time...

---------------------
ACTION: Wait 0.1 seconds before next action
ACTION: Wait 0.5 seconds before next action
ACTION: Wait 1 second before next action
--------------

which i'm sure are helpful to some people, but i'm curious why not also have actions for wait till end of bar/measure?

waiting by 0.1 seconds doesn't seem nearly as useful when compared to if it instead waited by beats or bars...

In what usage context? I'm curious as to what people are doing, or wanting to do with this feature.

Those are a fix for some problems with slowly reacting external hardware/software...If you guys want, I can code actions that wait for several seconds....

Way more useful to me would be,

'wait until end of measure/item/region/song before next action'

We'd be able to clone Ableton Live's session looping for one.

But hey, I know why it was introduced, good fix. Just would be nice to continue down that track...

Nice idea. And add "marker" to the "next" list.

Doh! Yeah, that was in my original post on this somewhere on the forum...thanks Art! So, to revise:

'Wait until end of measure/item/marker/region/tempo marker/cue/song before next action'

IMO it would open up a whole new world of macros for us!

That sounds like an AWESOME idea.

There's all sorts of live usage to be got from this. Eg. Jump to Marker after end of item or similar.

Or maybe unmute track and jump to marker after end of item or similar to build up tracks with additional instruments.

Sounds pretty exciting - or maybe I'm just easily excited.

Regards
Caleb

Yes, please!

It would allow me to reach the mic before recording starts...

that's EXACTLY why i started this thread bevoss.
actions based around measure/bar/etc. would let us mimic Ableton Live style loooping, songwriting, etc...

my sig has my little workaround for it, but its not nearly as good as it could be.

an action for "wait until end of measure before next action" is all we need....

(here's an old FR i put in for it http://forum.cockos.com/showthread.php?t=17240 ...)

I guess if you want ten seconds you just insert the action ten times into the macro.

Sure, you could easily make a custom action for "give me time to sprint to the mic" as: wait 1 second, wait 1 second, (repeat for as many seconds as you need), transport: record.

oh yes, I totally forgot that the maximum number of actions isn't limited anymore.

Have we got nested actions yet (create custom action consisting of ten one-second waits, insert that into another custom action)? Must try.
