Default Lost FX and Preferences window Reaper 6

I am running the latest version of Reaper 6 for windows. I attempted to load a licensed Arturia Analog Lab V plugin. After restarting, my FX windows for the tracks disappeared. I tried to re-scan throung Preferences and my Preferences window can not be accessed either. I un-insalled Anaqlog Labs V and did a hard reboot. My FX and (options>preferences) (ctrl-P) windows are still not responding. I have used other free plugins with no issue in the past 3 years. Can anyone help?--this is really strange, I can not find any answer, I can not be the only one.

Did you try running Preferences with all projects closed?

Find Reaper folder and open REAPER.ini file in text editor. There should be coordinates of Preferences window in 4 and 5 line like
prefs_x=4
prefs_y=0
if the numbers are big, change it to something near 0. And what do you mean by FX windows? When you click the FX button on track, you don't see FX chain window?

Default .ini---FX chain?

1.) Ok, will try the .ini values

Install a portable version and check this project in there.

When you install Reaper, there is a checkbox for portable install.

New instance to different folder. Then open that project in this instance and check whether the behaviour is the same.

Ok--I installed the portable version in a different folder and opened a project. The FX window opens just fine.

Does it happen in all projects or just in this?

All right. Check same project in both instances and also make a new one in both instances.

Default Try portible with new project

I tried a new project and it does not work either in the non-portable. The portable projects work. Also, I can not find the .ini values you were asking me to check in the reaper directory.

How does your reaper.ini start? If it doesn't look like mine, you can just copy and paste these lines to your file. Remember to close Reaper (I hope you did it why you checked that file). You can also compare reaper.ini from your old installation and the new one. Or you can send my it and I'll check whether I can find the issue.

Well I hate to admit it but I do not know how to find the .ini files you are asking for. I can find the reaper folder but that is as far as I get.

Well if you want me to analyze it, then it is better, if you send me the whole file, not just first lines. On these first lines I don't see any anomaly. Actually did you change a lot comparing to default settings? If no, you could just reset to default and everything should be fine. But for safety purposes creating a backup will allow you to come back if something will be wrong. Any manipulations with reaper.ini is important to do while Reaper is closed.

Try this one. Remember to make a backup (copy) of your old file and replace the original with this one.

Default >ini edit

Well a very strange occurrence happened when I made a temp folder on my desktop to put a copy of my original .ini and a copy .ini file you sent before I replaced the old one. As soon as I pasted the new .ini in the temp folder the FX window popped up with out making any changes to the original file? Good news i guess?

Sorry, not sure what you asking about. Some screenshots would be helpful. Anyway when I replaced my reaper.ini file with yours, I opened reaper and saw mixer on the whole screen. Just moved the window a bit down to make it smaller. Tried open Preferences, added some fx. Everything worked here.

You are welcome. Can you bring back that old reaper.ini and show me on screenshot/gif/video what is it you saw in there?

I did not see or change anything. It was very strange. When I copied the old one into my desktop temp folder for a backup and copied yours into the same temp folder before i was going to replace the original, The FX window just appeared out of no where. I did not edit or replace anything in the original?

I guess--I did not change it as far as I can tell, It must have picked up the changes you made from the temp folder. I am not fully aware of what occurred here. I just know when I copied your changes to my temp folder the FX appeared out of no where.

No, no. I mean can you show what you've seen with the file you sent me? Not the one I sent you back.
