Default Thinking of getting new desktop solely for reaper

Hey everyone.
I'm thinking of getting a new Desktop Mac solely for recording. Right now I use an Intel Core 2 Duo with 2G 667 DDR2 Ram Macbook

The macbook does a great job, but once I get up to about 30 tracks, even without FX it is starting to glitch out, and the CPU is running at about 80-85% usage.
Any projects under 10 tracks are pretty much flawless. Its just the big songs that are causing issues.

I use my laptop for everything....email, gaming, internet, office, photoshop, etc.
I turn off all programs when recording and stop all non-essential processes.
The purpose of getting the desktop is basically to run reaper and literally nothing else.
I've tried several types of settings, different buffers, etc.

This macbook is my first mac ever so I am far but an expert on upgrading to a different mac

Can anyone recommend to me what specs I should look for? I'm going to hunt for something used....as my budget will only be around $1000-$1500

I thought the 'forum-ers' would know best what Reaper needs. The goal for sure is to get better performance than my macbook.....any thoughts??
