Default Mackie Control Klinke v0.8

Update:
I have released in the meantime a newer version (v0.8.3) and opened a new thread: http://forum.cockos.com/showthread.php?t=171827

Original:
Since half an year i talk about a new version of my MCU extension that i will release soon. Here it is:

https://bitbucket.org/Klinkenstecker...mcu_klinke.zip

I think it got some nice features, but in relation to my last version (v0.6.4) it has one big disadvantage: It does not support the Mackie extender or more than one hardware unit :-(

The most important changes in v0.8 are:
• Reaper folders can now be reflected on the MCU using the Folder-Mode
• Anchors allows locking a Channel Strip to a fixed track
• FX presets (store and recall FX settings) including a Blind Test feature
• FX Local maps (different maps for each FX instances of the same FX)
• improved syncing of the MCU state with the Reaper GUI
• Global Actions assignments can be named and shown in MCU display
• Quick Jumps added for faster navigation
• improved Track Name handling
• FX favorites can be stored in Reaper project file

And i also wrote a real manual with screenshots and other fancy stuff. You can take a look into it here: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/2029458/Reap...nke_manual.pdf

P.S.: The release contains also some new FX maps, so even if you plan to continue to work with v0.6.4, it can be useful to download the v0.8 and do copy the PlugMaps folder.

Thanks Klinke!

Really amazing stuff here!

When I get time I'm going to try and drum up some "donaters" to make it worth your while to implement some way adding back the banking and offset functions again so we can have two MCUs!

Does the new version still support MCU extenders? I
Seem to recall a post where extenders were
no longer going to be supported?

It still use juce, porting v0.8 to mac should need the same effort as porting v0.6.4.

A question about the folder mode.

Is is correct that sub-children of the root (track 4 in the pic) are not displayed currently or is there an option to switch this ?
(just want to make sure I don't miss anything, first time I've looked closer into the folder mode which is quite brilliant btw.)

The way it works here, assuming the folder mode pref is set to "only children":
1. Hold the select button for "Root" >> diplays only "Child"
2. Then, hold select button for "Child" >> displays only "Subchild"
3. Pressing Global View once displays "Child"
4. Pressing Global View a 2nd time displays track 1 and "Root".

Thanks.
So it's basically as I thought, the view is always on one level only, I can't display child and sub-child together if I wanted to, correct ?

If you set it to "Incl Parent", then in your specific example you would get "Child" and "Subchild" at the same time. But I don't think that's really what you're looking for (but maybe good enough?)

Ok, I think I get it now.
This was anyway more a question to grasp the concept behind it, not that I needed it urgently.
Thanks.

There's also another thing that came up while using this:
I have to check more in depth but at first look it seems I can't get the 'follow visibilty of TCP' to work. I have 'adjust TCP' and 'adjust mixer' both set to 'hide non MCU' but it only seems to properly hide tracks in the MCP, in the TCP I always have all tracks visible.

Is this supposed to work (on your end) ?
As said, could also be user error from my side.

Last night during mixing session I had Reaper crashing for the first time when trying to anchor faders.

I have my 7 busses going OTB for summing and wanted to Anchor them on the MCU. Soon as I clicked 7 the last channel Reaper frozen and has to force quit. I've used Anchors many times in the past.. Not sure what to do to fix it.

did you install the new version of reaper? it happened after that?
if not, then try to install the latest version and see if this solves.
if yes you can revert to the previous version while waiting to find out what caused the issue

No.. still 4.32 But it's weird I just used that on the last mix.
But a few days later setting up new song to mix and it decides to crash.
Just weird crap.. hate when that sort of thing happens.
I'll have to update and try. maybe reinstall the klinke extension.

Can you reproduce the crash? And what did you exactly before the crash? I have no idea what "as i clicked 7" imply in the anchor context.

How do I setup Nano kontrol 2 do control master fader with channel 8 from the nano kontroller?

Have a look at this chart

http://home.comcast.net/~robbowers11/MCMap.htm

You see master fader volume is controlled by sending pitchbend on MIDI channel 9 (lavender area)

Program that on your Nano kontrol and it should work.

(smooched off a first-page post)
"Inside the "MCU" folder you'll find the 64 bit build of this plug-in (reaper_csurf_mcu_klinke_x64.dll). It's inside the folder "64bit_version". Copy it and paste it in the "Plugin" folder inside REAPER's installation folder."

The download link is on the first page, and it's fully working.

Yep, but on some (like Faderjockeys and also mine) systems, the 64bit can cause a crash when the undo function is used. Faderjockey post refers to this problem. And it will be the first thing I will work on, when I restart the development of the extension (hopefully this summer).

Hey I gotta question for you. Does this send midi "notes on" on channels 1-9? I ask because My Nano Kontrol2 Keeps playing notes when I hit buttons on the transporter. Is there anyway I can prevent that from happening?

Thanks!

Great work by the way!

I have both the faderport and the nanoKontrol2.
Kan I use both as MCU with Klinke?

Default Mapping ZedR16 EQ to Reaper

Hello all,
I may have missed something as this thread is very long ...

I have the ZEDR16 which I use for recording and mixing. I have the faders mapped to Reaper. I would like to map the EQ on the mixer to Reaper EQ plugin.

Is this possible? Please provide some instructions or point me to the instructions.

Thanks Reaper Forum members

Not sure how that would be possible. I don't own one but pretty sure it's just analog eq. There's no way to control anything with them. They aren't data controllers. Just normal pots in a Eq circuit. Maybe be one thing if that board had total recall which it doesn't. That part of the board just like the mic pres and sends are analog.

Yep, I thought my inquiry was a reach. Anyway, great board (affordable) with a very good DAW. I find EQ mapping is a drawback. If I use EQ plugin will need to use the mouse. Otherwise, I will need to track and dialup and jot down EQ channel settings then create stereo recording for demo playback.

Anyway, thanks for the quick response.

Yep. This is a good group.

What are the limitations with the Mackie MCU Pro with Reaper?
The top two major and minor, form your experience
This is a very long thread and I may have overlooked this item.

i'm making the leap to replace my A&H ZEDR16 with the Mackie MCU Pro and Extension. I've had enough of recalling eq settings on the board and fx settings from external hardware.
Current recording setup: Reaper v4.76/x64 rev.0074d7; Windows 7 64bit; 8Gb memory; Intel i3-2100 cpu@3.10GHz; w/Texas Instrument Firewire chipset; 6-usb 2.0; 2 dbx compressors 166 &266; lexicon mx200; tascam cd-rw900SL

your feedback is much appreciated

Default Track following

I have been following all these threads to do with Mackie and bcf2000, looking to find my perfect setup.

Until very recently I have been using my bcf2000 in sonar mackie mode with the generic mackie driver that comes with reaper for one reason, which leads me to my question.

When in the mode I mentioned before, I can select a track with my mouse and the bcf2000 automatically jumps to that focus. I will try to explain. If I have 16 tracks in a project and the focus is on track 1 and I then click (with my mouse) on track 13(for example) both reaper and my bcf2000 will jump to focus on tracks 9-16. Is there a way to keep this same behaviour in Klinke mode?

I find navigation through projects so much easier with this behaviour but love the control over plugins with Klinke's mcu control, so would love to know if there is a way of implementing this.

I have read the manual and tried a few things but it just be I am missing something. I hope this great community can help me once again.

Thanks S

Track following is already implemented in Klinke's plugin.

From Klinke's manual, p. 14, 'Follow REAPER'

Thank you, I have read that so many times and for the life of me couldn't figure out what it meant........don't laugh but it's because I missed what (shift option) meant I thought it was saying that there is a shift option not that I should press shift and option buttons........jeez what an idiot. Thank you for your reply, it made me think about it in a different way, now I know what I was missing and a whole new world has opened up............
