Default Highlight WHOLE of selected track?

Newcomer here, evaluating Reaper as considering migrating from Cubase. One small thing, but it's really bugging me:

When I select a track in the arrange window by clicking on it, the track information pane gets highlighted, but the rest of the track (where the notes go) does not.

This makes it very unclear which is the currently selected track when working on a big composition with loads of tracks. I usually work at 100mph so need everything instantly clear and visible, rather than having to check the left side of the window all the time.

Is there a way to change this?

Different themes do what you want, try

Thanks for the help. I tried that theme, but still only the track control pane gets highlighted, not the whole of the track...

Hmm, well, if you want to select all the items on a track, double-click the track pane. If you want them all to change a certain color when highlighted, that's some theme setting I don't know.

Bringing up this thread again.
Would be so handy for me too for what OP asks for.
And i really guess were certainly not the only ones.

This FR is about just leftmouse clicking in Arrange area (empty space or Item) and then the Track "lane" that is under mouse becomes highlighted.
It's super handy for orientating, no need of having to look at TCP at which Track becomes highlighted ; your eyes could just stay looking at the Arrange area.

Wondering if this is doable somehow in Walter but i am afraid not...

I do it by double clicking the track, left of the arrange area. So maybe there's an action that the double click runs?

Thanks for your input, but..
That's for selecting all Items on a Track.
I am not talking 'bout selecting.
I am talking 'bout visually highlighting a Track lane in arrange area, which has nothing to do with selecting Items on a Track.

I miss this feature so much, after I moved from Ableton.

I'm dearly hoping this feature is in Reaper somewhere, too. I come from Cubase, too, and this is a significant feature that really helps visually with workflow. I work at 100 mph as well, and little things like this make a big difference!

I checked the theme development/tweaker and typing "arrange" in the filter only shows two colours that can be changed,

Empty arrange view area

Empty arrange view area vertical grid shading

I then typed "even," knowing that there are options for odd and even track colours. There is a colour for,

Track background (even tracks)

And there will be a corresponding (odd tracks) colour.

But there is no option for a track being selected or unselected.

Finally, I set the filter to "unselected" and there is nothing there which would enable to change the track colour in the arrange view.

Has this changed at all? Or been updated? Some themes do this. But I want to currently use the iLogic theme which is a fave around here.. I like the Next Free version of iLogic... and I have no idea how to get the selected track more noticeable.

Surely something's changed with version 5 (or 6) since 2014?

Thanks!

I'll give a +1 on this. You know how when you a mute a track it goes shadowed? How about when you click on the header of a track it gets a slight highlight. Makes perfect sense to me and it blows my mind that I can't find an option for it in the vast flexibility that is Reaper. Maybe I just missed it?

This is literally the default behaviour for Reaper, just click a track and it is highlighted, if you arent seeing it, then the theme you are running has disabled it by making track select the same color as track.
Just go to menu actions, search for theme tweaker, scroll down until you see track selected color, change it to the selected track highlight color you want.

When I type in "selected track" in the tweaker menu filter, the only similar option I see is to change the track control panel background color.

I'm using the default theme, if that makes a difference.

I think it's only available in the pre-release versions for now.

With latest update (REAPER 6.24: March 2 2021) it is finally possible!

+ Theme: add theme color for selected track background

Thanks andrewx.

But I cannot find this option anywhere in 6.24.
