Default Evening out electro drums, quantize query etc.

Hi folks. I am using some VST old style drum machines to record drum parts.
I want to make the bar or loop sound like a drum machine, but becasuse I am playing the part on a midi keyboard, when I click on the track and look at the midi, I can see that the kick might be louder on one beat v another, just down to the fact I am playing it.
Is there a way of automatically making the kick and snare levels the exact same level, so it would sound like a "machine".
Also, am I right in saying I click on the track, click the big "Q" and just click "commit". It seems to throw off some of the beats

Doesn't it work by using the JS midi velocity control plugin as an input FX?

Ah, this I did not know. I suppose I should check that out then. So just add it to the track as I would any effect.

My quantize issue, I will check back on some other threads and see what I can find
