1,830 brings lanes, but how to un-group them ?
I have recorded several takes in a loop, so now the clips are in a lane, but i can not grab one and shift or move it : all lanes are grouped.
How can i move only one take ?
thanks

I would think the only way would be to expand all takes to individual tracks. It sure would be nice to be able to reverse that process (put all takes back into one track) when your done though.

Actually... try moving the active take item with alt-shift-drag... It should work. I did not try it though.

THanks for your replies.
I have found " explode all takes to new tracks". It works fine, but the only annoying stuff is that it creates new tracks BUT also keeps the orignal takes as it is (so i have twice the sound clips).
But this explodable lane feature is great !

If you split the takes as required to make your complilation of them, then select the whole thing with a marquee and use "crop to active take" you may see that you end up with what you want - individual items you can move freely.

thank you for your answer, Art. But argh, the language limitation is bad in such technical talking !
I don't know what "crop" means.
I right-clicked on my takes, selected "crop to active take", but i end up with a single file instead of the 3 lanes i had.
Did it merged the takes ?
in such cases, for a foreigner, a tutorial can be helpful... I will see if the most up to date version of the pdf manual deals with this...

Trouble is, maybe the way you are working would be different from mine, but this is what I would do if I had three takes of (say) a vocal -
1 - Mary had a little lamb
2 - Mary had a little lamb
3 - Mary had a little lamb
From take one, I want the words "had a"
From take two, I want the words "little lamb"
From take three, I want the word "Mary"
I display the takes in lanes using the new option from the options menu.
I split (down all three lanes) like this -
Mary | had a | little lamb
Mary | had a | little lamb
Mary | had a | little lamb
On the first lane I click (select) the second piece.
On the second lane I click the last piece
On the third lane I click the first piece.
Play back, and you hear the pieces you have chosen.
Highlight everything in the lanes by right-click-drag (or whatever) and right click on any part of the lanes, choose, "take", choose "crop to active take".
Now you have one lane with the three little items on it that you selected and you can move them, crossfade them, adjust them - all the usual stuff.
But, if you don't want to move the parts of the selected takes, and you want to keep all takes in lanes, you can do crossfading anyway in the lane format, and not do "crop to active take".

Ok, thank you, it gets clearer now.
It is perfect if, for example, i want to play a melody, and if i'm noot confident into my hand playing, i can make 3 takes of the same thing, and then keep the best parts to make a perfect take (a bit like the autopunch recording mode).
but in my way of working, the goal i'm reaching is a bit different :
let's say i want to record a 4 bar beat with hand-tweaked delay on it.
i want to jam in real time and make many takes, as i don't know which tweaking will sound the best : so i enable this "lane" overdub recording.
I end up with 3 takes, and i realize that while improvising, it is not one but two takes that i like, and so i want to keep the second onewhere it is, trash the first one, but i want to move the third take later in my song. So i'd need to un-group it to do such (or is the "explode all tracks" the only method ? It works but breaks the workflow a bit, as it requires exploding, then trashing the unwanted, then erasing the twins takes -the one which is still in the 'take lane', and the newly exploded one, etc).
I can end up to reach my goal, but it would be rather long workflow-wise. Does it makes sense ?
[anyway, i'm not complaining : this take stuff is a great step froward ]

me again.
Taking your example :
- you start with the same project than you "i have 3 takes and want to get "mary had...""
- but duting the process, you realize that it would become interseting to have 3 times the same word repeated, but with different intonations.
So you'd need to be able both to make your assemblage (as it was your primary goal), and also to take some elements of each take and use them according to your creative needs, individually.
Does it make better sense ?

Sounds like the "explode" function would be best in that scenario - together with the "implode" function perhaps that Justin has announced for the next version.
Though once you have done the procedure that I have described, you could perhaps copy one of the resulting items and use it elsewhere, dragging its ends out to the full size of the original take. For instance, the item you end up with that only has the word "Mary" can have its ends dragged out so that it has the whole original sentence "Mary had a little lamb".
Interesing how different people need slighly different things and therefore slighly different features! I guess what Justin tries to do it to provide what will exactly meet some needs, and can be adapted (with just a little inconvenience) to meet other needs.

You sound like you want what the same thing as me, I think explode and then implode (yayy!) will be what you are after
